Reminder new Halo 2 maps being released tomorrow.
Or, in 3 weeks, free Halo 3 beta... I know which I'll be doing.
already in the beta...... still gonna get the maps lol.
This will be the best $4 I've spent in a long time.
It doesnt cost anything does it?
Its $4 for the two. People keep refering to the Gears maps as the Halo 2 model so I wonder if they'll not be made available for free down the line.
I gave up on Halo 2 long ago so I might pass but this is also a good reason to come back.
Well not everyone has that opportunity
Actaulyl anyone that really wanted the Beta coudl of just gotten Crackdown which is a good game without having the add the Beta invite.
I'd grab them if they were free, but since they aren't I'm not paying for content for a older game.
Wow, both are great! I especially enjoy Tombstone, being the Hang 'em High fanatic.
Manana I shall play much Halo 2. Yeees.
i brought them and they are good, as for crackdown i think the game is a naff version of whats getting to be a very tired genre so i won't spend the money on it, i may see if i can find it really cheap though and trade it in after the beta
You could probably be more wrong, but not much there.
Crackdown, if anything, completely revitalises what is quickly becoming a "naff genre".
Dicking around in a city has -never- been so much fun.
This is going to sound like a really stupid question, but, how can I get these new maps? $4 doesn't sound that bad.
It's nice to have something new, but I'm really not impressed with these maps.
Desolation is a small type map (ie Warlock shudder) and Tombstone is the big one. Can't use vehicles in either one! I can see these being fun for maybe a day or two, but that's about it.
I kind of get tired of all the sandbox game bashing.
Crackdown was short, didn't have much to do besides wiping out gangs and once I powered up completely I didn't feel extremely powered up, but I still had fun doing it.
It's here to stay, just like role playing, driving, shooting, and fighting games. In most cases it's all of these rolled into one. It's the ultimate role playing game when you have open freedom to do what you want.
You might as well say shooters like Halo are a "very tired genre" because all you do it shoot people.
My review of the new maps:
No plasma pistol in either map either, meaning No noob combo.
There is a glitch in the downloader where you can get the maps for free.
create a Live Silver account on xbox 360 and then when you go to the Halo 2 content downloader it will ask which account to download to. pick your silver account instead of your regular Gold account. the download will fail the first few times you try, but the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time it will download the maps and since you don't have a credit card tied to that silver account, its got nothing to charge.
I personally tried this and it works but I fully expect microsoft to fix it before the end of the day and start contacting people who did download it. I'll still pay my $4, but when I heard about this glitch I had to at least try it.
Load Halo 2 and go in to Xbox Live option. After being signed in there are the play options (Quickmatch, OptiMatch etc), the bottom option is Content Download. Enter that and its the top map option.
Hell yes. I enjoyed playing it so much I've wiped my save and I'm doing it again.
(got most of the achievements; "Base Jumper" is SO much fun)
haven't been able to DL them. keep getting error codes, perhaps from Microsofts attempt to fix that glitch?
Tried the glitch myself. It did work.
Funny, all my attempts to get the maps legally failed, but my first attempt at illegal worked like a charm. Funny.
