The idea of IDW-based figures makes me VERY happy.

Can't wait to see more of stuff like this.

 

If this is hasbros answer to the millons they lose each year to third party figs then I say bring it !

 

If its idw comic specific characters, i may be in. I actually like classics Prime so I may pass. But I can def use a Megatron, some DJD guys, Chromedome, Swerve, etc...

 

Plus if we get more comic figures it might interest people into following the comics!

Belive it or not a good toy is a good toy, and if a toys looks good kids will still buy them because they look cool regardless if they saw the characters on TV or not.

 

I'll believe it when I see it. Sadly, the few decent toys that Hasbro have put out are vastly outnumbered by the turds, imho. I'll hope for a worthy effort, but won't get my hopes too far up. I'm still interested in Toyworld's Prime.

Assuming that we will get IDW Prime, let's hope Hasbro releases other IDW MTME casts. I want to display those figures and mimic this cover:

I got a feeling a lot of you guys are going to be disappointed. I'd be very surprised if we get figures of a comic that only the fandom loves.

 

Do you think Toyworld would still release it? If this is the same as that one, you have to figure a good amount of their market will go for the offical (and cheaper) one. That company hasn't put out their MP Soundwave figure. I don't remember any info on it once Takara announced the official one. What stage is the Toyworld version at? If just at prototype stage, they would have to invest a lot more $$ into it.


Wouldn't you love to be in the 3rd party company boardroom when Hasbro/Tomy announces an offical version.

Still waiting for Takara/Tomy to announce their MP Shockwave figure.


What does suck about IDW based figures is all the characters have bland alt modes & altered robot modes. So if they do make a Trailbreaker, it won't be the classics Trailbreaker people have been wanting. He'll have some sort of vagually truckish mode, not the camper truck wanted.

 

I believe there was more involved than just an announcement of MP Soundwave that killed the 3rd party version... I might be wrong, but I vaguely remember whisperings of Takara/Hasbro cease and desist letters.

 

Yeah I want a plastic version of that Prime.

 

Honestly if Hasbro starts making figures based on recent comics, and starts doing Arms Micron-style gimmicky weapons instead of the shitty Mechtech-style gimmicky weapons,they can take all of my money forever.

 

IF this is artwork for a new figure, it looks bloody good.

Nice to see they've thought things through by beefing up Prime Optimus' skinny design, and skinny-fying Optimus' traditional look.  

Of course if it is real, there should be a stopwatch at the ready at Toy Fair. It should only take 20 or so seconds for the usual "wurst plastik fing evar mayd!"...followed by the classic "Hasblo nevar mayd teh karukter i waz randumly hypin abowt. Generashuns is fale."
