Got mine today. Look at yours - are the four black panels on the back of his legs correct? In truck mode, you should see the detailing. On mine, I see the backs of the panels. They were installed upside-down and on the wrong legs!

All the pics I've seen show them just like mine. I wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for the fact that the gray parts that notch into the top ones should notch UNDERNEATH and be held down, not on top where they just pop out. It throws the truck mode off a hair and makes the wheel covers sit goofy.

Time to take the legs apart and pull pins.

But Hasbro shits gold, and this isn't a KO or 3rd party product.. so how can this be? I don't understand.

Mine is in the mail, but good to know.

Really don't think this is a misassembly issue. Looking at the panels, they're on the only way they can go. The panels have rectangular gaps on the bottoms that cover the raised slots for the sword on the legs. if you flip them over, or swap what legs they're on or whatever so the detailing is on the top in truck mode, they won't over those raised slots anymore, despite being designed to.

Aw crap, you're right. I wasn't folding those down in robot mode so I missed that.

I guess those tabs/slots are just a crappy design. Time to bust out the knife and do some carving.

I thought the same thing when I first got mine. It really is too bad it was designed that way, would have looked MUCH better the other way around.

I'm sure it will be screwed up on the United version as well.

What really confuses me is the diamond plate details. Normal detail on the back of a truck, but they are only visible in robot mode. Bwuh?

It's like they designed it to do one thing then halfway through changed the part around.

I guess it was designed with the robot mode in mind? Make the legs more detailed or something.

I thought the same at first, it looks very plain. I wish the other sides were moulded.

That sums it all up nicely. Goofy sitting skid plates and all.

I'm going to cut the slots for the gray tabs deeper.

huh is there a way to fix it? I don't want to break mine and I don't know if theirs a way to take those pins out.

I thought this was a missassembly at first too but....

There's nothing to fix. The unmolded sides are meant to be shown in truck mode. Take a look at the back of a semi sometime and you'll see just how lame and ugly it really is back there. Semis aren't built to look pretty, it's a function over form thing. Plus, as previously mentioned, when these panels are flipped onto the inside of the legs for robot mode they actually have square recesses that are molded in to fit sword tabs.

looking at them closer it does seem correct then. I've thought those details on them were for robot mode until the thread made me question it a bit. Seem right then.

IMO he's just too small to be with the others:mad  I'm a little disappointed with him.

I like mine a lot better after I painted his cab and doors black.

However, after doing so, I felt like I just got started with painting.

I pretty much don't understand this as he is a pretty average deluxe in terms of size. I get that the original Laser Prime was a big guy (luvers to mine as I just had him out a few days ago) but that was a different time and he was really more of a Leader time figure.

Then again, I don't get scale angst either so what do I know?

This problem is solved for me as I don't plan to display him on the same shelf as the others. It's more of a stand-alone figure for me. :)
