    That's my childhood gone.

Jokes aside, the theory that dinosaurs the size of Tyrannosaurus has been around for a while. But I always thought it would be as the article states, that larger dinosaurs were always less extensively covered. I figure Tyrannosaurus would only have a few patches of feathers on its head, back and tail.

But that. That interpretation looks ridiculous.

i am the only one not bugged by this?, we dont know how the animals looked, what we saw in movies, tv and books are simply interperations of what they MAY had looked like, but as time passes we will be getting clues on how they really look like

I'll never understand "my childhood's been raped because dinosaurs are feathered!"

Nor do I understand the reason to drown out news of a new dinosaur species with unrelated, sensationalist speculation. I'd like to know more about Yutyrannus huali (who's name took forever to find in that article), know why exactly it has feathers when most large animals don't have any kind of fuzzy covering. Perhaps (assuming it's warm-blooded) it lived in colder climates, much like how the mammoths are woolly while their elephant relatives are not?

Oh I'd back that, our Gallah was vicious little fucker

That's because they wanted to use a Deinonychus but Velociraptor rolls off the tongue easier.

On the one hand it is astonishing all the new and interesting discoveries we're making about the previous denizens of the planet and how that affects our understanding of our planet and its history.

    On the other hand.....

I'm ok with this. The representation is a little shocking at first, but it's actually kinda cool looking. Honestly, we know very little about dinosaurs, and we've assumed a lot based on that little bit, so it's natural that we'll every so often find out something that messes with the image we've all been going off of for so long.

For example, it was once thought that T-rex's would have stood upright. Which is why Godzilla and G1 Grimlock look the way they do.
