It just shows you that the people involved in making a lot of these movies don't get what's enjoyable or iconic about the source material or the characters. Thankfully when someone does "get it", we end up with somethign awesome (hello John Favreau).
Ever heard of a nuclear warhead? Multiply that by a thousand, and you got Dragonball Evolution. I saw the review on Anime News Network, and I KNEW it was gonna bomb. BIG TIME. Akira Toriyama gonna have one helluva facepalm.
I wanted this to be good, I really did. I know the expression is really overused and overdramtic, but this pretty much raped my childhood. At least this serves for a prime example of how much a fuck up a movie is when you don't stick to the source material. I refuse to support this movie in any way, shape or form.
I'm pretty sure he said in an interview he was supporting the film because it's a "different take" or something. Then again, he's probably getting major royalties.
This doesn't just rape your childhood. It waits until you're an adult and eating cereal before sneaking up behind you and raping you horrificly as milk and cereal splatters across the table with your mouth open, agape in horror as Dragonball Evolution rapes you.
I agree completely. The fact that they named this movie after the Dragonball franchise makes it worse. I might have watched the movie on basic cable later on if it was named something else, but that's just not Dragonball. =/
Wow... Some critics take things too hard. I'm pretty sure the movie isn't as bad as some people like to exaggerate it. There's worse things like the first live-action Transformers Movie.
I want something of what you are smoking because granted TF the live action had its flaws. it was a decent movie. this movie makes ANY Michael Bay previous works into Masterpieces. Im not exagerating -someone brougth a bootleg to the open lab today , what I saw was almost laughable bad-
well despite how bad that review sounded ill still watch it I mean for god sake I sat through the entire movie Postal and this cant be THAT bad.... can it?
My friend. I'm in the clear. Not smoking a thing. You're right. TF live action was decent. Peter Cullen reprises his role as Optimus Prime. Some of our favorite, childhood characters have returned into a great performance. We get to see some notable celebrities play a good role in the film. If I may say, FUCK those celebs were fit for the roles! Such as the troops. The only problem was the extensive focus on humans. Not that there was a problem. But there was little focus on the troops that fought against Movie Scorponok and Movie Blackout. Not enough screen time for Prime and the others. And Jazz got killed. That's why I made earlier remarks that put down his first film in some other posts. Biggest mistakes made in the movie. Less civilians. More troops screen time. More Robots screen time and robot-on-robot epic fights. Bay's most likely to rectify this in his second film. And as for DB Evolution, people DO exaggerate when they say the movie is terrible. There are other terrible movies (Other than TF Live Action 1), such as Judge Dredd (Even Stallone was disappointed with good creativity gone to waste.), Batman Forever, and Dennis the Menace... There.. Happy? More shittier than the former two films..
I watched DB:E today, some moments were enjoyable (mainly the master roshi perversion homage). It was bad, but it wasn't SF:Chun li bad. Piccolo had such a minor role considering he was the antagonist. I saw goku as a mix of himself AND gohan from the anime... the setting of the movie wasn't as calm as it is in the anime. The movie DID have potential... it just strayed off too far from what we know and love.
