Obviously, I'm just speculating. I am basing this off of:

-There was someone a while back who was at least pretending to have some sort of inside infromation. He said that the Ferrari's name was six letters long. "RODIMUS" is too long, so I looked for G1 characters who WOULD fit. Mirage did. Now, obviously the guy could have been full of sh*t (I dont' remember who it was unfortunately) but as I looked into Mirage, i found...

-The ideas behind the G1 Mirage. He was, from my understanding, pretty much Cybertronian nobility and well aware of it. I don't think it is too much of a negative stereotype to say that people of wealth and high class buy Ferraris. So there is a possibility, but I was still dismissing the idea until...

-A heard in the Bay interview a month or two ago that the Ferrari was going to have an Italian accent. First of all, that immediately disqualifies Rodimus in my book, I just don't see a character with that name having an Itallian accent. Mirage, while derived from a French word, could easily roll off with an Itallian accent. Really, both languages are Latin based so it makes sense.

We know that Ferrari wants it done very tastefully, so I don't we're going to see "It'sa me! A-Mirage! Let'sa goa getta pizza piea!" But a subtle, aristocratic sounding accent would probably be easily approved by them.

Like I said, this is ALL speculation brought on by what may have been someone bullsh*ting people...but it has, so far, seemed to add up.

 

Good theories. We'll see. I'm very curious about the ferrari.

Heh, would be such a bummer if it turns out to be "Rapido" and it's a new character. Then again the other rumor guy on this board mentioned fans wouldn't believe who it was so that kind of implies it would be a known legacy guy.

But again, we'll see through the bullsh*t once we get some confirmation.

 

these haven't even come out yet and I am already tired of the mech tech weapons crap. Some of the figures look really nice and then they stick a giant mechanical turd on top. Not exactly stealthy.

 

But "HOT ROD" isn't.  

 

True, but isn't there some issue with using that as a name, hence the change to Rodimus, even when he isn't a Prime?

 

But the name "Hot Rod" is permanently off the table for Hasbro.

The first picture's helicopter has two distinct rotor blades. the second picture's helicopter has 4 rotor blades. couldnt be more clear. And yet I'm confused-anyone else?

 

Just got my MP-9 today, and honestly, no amount of pictures can compare to handling a toy and discovering it for the first time. For example, the two smaller guns into the combined form is something I'd not seen and was pleasantly surprised by.

One set of rotors must rotate around, over the others for transformation. The first picture maybe just didn't flip them out properly.

The way the legality of it works is that they can call him "Hot Rod" all they want in the movie (just like the comics) but they can't brand him that way on the merchandise. They would have to call him "Autobot Hot Rod" or "Infantry Commander Hot Rod" or something like that.

That's the same reason we have "Autobot Ratchet" and "Special Opps Jazz" on the toys right now.

So yes he can still be named Hot Rod but can't be called "Hot Rod" on toy packaging!

On topic: With the new listings that means Soundwave ISN'T the Helicopter, I vote for the Dodge Charger seen on set.

 

I can totally see that now-especially since the middle of the rotors in the second pic have curves to let them slide together. i feel silly now

 

Fire truck is a want at the moment.
Wrecker car is as well.
Helicopter still interests me, but I do worry that the mechtech weapon looks like it takes up a large amount of the nose section.
Ratchet = old Ratchet toy with a big silly weapon thingumy.
Barricade = Barricade with a big silly weapon thingumy.
Bumblebee = sod off, Bumblebee. I don't want to buy another nearly identical toy of you yet again.

 

Ratchet is new. get your ratchet, put it in car mode, and hold it up to the picture on the screen. now look at the lines for transformation. see how its different? its either a new mold or a remold-i suspect new

 

Is the Rachet in the video the deluxe or voyager?

the firetruck is really nice. the rest aren't terribly exciting.

 

Firetruck and Blue NASCAR both look incredibly nice. I'm glad that we're going to be getting the NASCAR figures with all their weapons added on (or one of them at least). The green one looked weak without all the extra additions.

These pictures are making me hate MechTech more and more though. The weapons looks pointless, unnecessary and stupid on the figures.

 

Agreed... maybe the chopper.. but not much else, looks like recycled figures. Bee looks a little different. who knows.
