Actually, if you think about it, Nelson's not lying. So far, we haven't seen the twins. We've seen Skids. If you want to get technical about it, then he's not lying. The twins are not in there, but Skids is. You can't have twins without the second half of the duo to make it happen.

Weren't we treated to some YouTube footage involving cablework and a Smart car being destroyed? If I remember correctly, it was stated that the Twins bought the farm during that sequence, or at least one of them?

Perhaps that's what's going to happen. We're going to see Mudflap die in this one. And since it's a film full of quick editing and cuts, even if they would both be in the film, it'll be a blink and you miss it kind of a deal.

GM's going to want that car (Skids) in the film. He'll at least appear, if only for a few seconds.

 

He could've been sarcastic when saying that about the Twins  .

But think about it. We've seen that the Twins are the cars. What Nelson is saying is that they are two different characters. Now what are Hasbro going to do with the Deluxe, Legends etc. to all of those molds used for the Twins?
If they released them to the public:
A) They would have to not release the other characters, p*ssing off fans.
B) They make both, making kids & parents confused, allowing a big old pile of complaints to come their way.
C) Not use the molds for the Twins, wasting money.

 

If Hasbro as so called co-producers agree with Bay dumping the Twins then they are fools they are next to Bumblebee & Optimus (and arguably Starscream) some of the most Marketable Characters.

It would be foolish to cut them completely out... Beside any second the Twins are on screen is One second I don't have to look at some stupid flesh face (Namely the distinctly oddball looking Shia & Rosie) [The Faux Gi Joes don't offend me much by comparison].

I'd like to see Jolt have a role someone postulated that he wakes up Sentinel Prime from Stasis Lock with his shock whips then gets killed by Shockwave while covering him falling back.

I like that suggestion as it at least gives Jolt something to do and it's better to see him have a heroic death and keep Ratchet & Ironhide around.. (I worry Ironhide is going to get wasted too though - as there's been rumors about that for more than a year).

With all the filler Generics in DOTM they could at least spend some of that CGI money on Jolt & the Twins.

It would be odd if by no Twins he means no to both of them and one gets "written out" I can see the fun in seperating them for story reasons... and It has been suggested that the datsun is actually either Skids or Mudflap in disguise emulating their hero Bumblebee.

So no twins is true if one of them is a Black Volt and the other is a Datsun ? I'd like to see them both in matching mirrored form though personally.

Unlike some other people I actually really like them both.

That's what I'm wondering as well. This is not something Hasbro would happily agree too. This messes up their products, promoting, it confuses children and parents and upsets/angers fans. Theirs no way Bay could digitally edit those cars out of the film without really spending a ton(but then again he may have also saved money that wasn't spent on the CGI for them...).

I'm really at a loss of words as to understand whats going on with those two. Bay was saying as early as the first month of shooting that they weren't going to be in it yet he still filmed them and Takaratomy still made a prototype(?) of the black and green one with Skids Body...either the leaked photos of the toy were of a discarded prototype or they have the same physical appearance as the old twins, Bay just gave them new personalities, voices and names...voila "new" characters...

Who, Nelson or Bay? Bay has been the single most unreliable person when it came to advance information before ROTF. His entire "disinformation campaign" consisted almost entirely of Bay telling BS and dismissing genuine call sheets, set photos and toy leaks as "disinformation".

Don Murphy calls alleged ROTF treatment "some stupid story" that "thankfully wasn't real".

Nelson calls the alleged treatment "no fan concoction" and also "Real as in it was not a fan who wrote it".

Don Murphy claims that "The treatment is not legit" and he doesn't "know why Nelson is stirring shit up".

Nelson claims that "the source of the information that I get is different than Don's."

Epic cinema, indeed.

All your carefully researched evidence means nothing because Nelson is talking directly to BAY and is therefore 100% reliable!

 

I don't think it's as much about the twins as wanting the story to make sense and explain why two prominent characters from RotF suddenly disappear with no mention at all...kind of like Barricade after Movie 1. If they're gone, they're gone, but don't just unceremoniously cut them or ignore them and think people won't wonder what happened and why.

i have a hard time believing they'd give skids a new toy if he wasn't in the movie. hasbro's in the biz to make money, after all.

 

I don't believe one bet that the twins are not in DOTM no matter how many times Nelson says it. We have seen the toys and the cars be transported around besides we know for a fact Tom Kenny is coming back. Of course he also voiced Wheelie never the less I don't buy it.

 

I work in Visual Effects and if for whatever reason, Bay and the studio decided to remove all trace of the twins from shots where they appear, it is doable. It'll just take some money.

Compared to the other VFX in this movie, simple removal would be relatively cheap. However since the movie was shot in stereo, the difficulty increases in actually doing the removal, hence increasing the cost. It'll also get more expensive if they need to put another car in their place.

In other words, I have no clue what is true, but just cause they shot the two cars doesn't mean we'll see them on screen. People do all kinds of crazy shit in post.

 

Good lord. Whatever happened to waiting for a movie to come out....no spoilers, people talking crap. Geez. It's not like we have any say over what Bay and co. do...X happened in the previous movie....people hate it, Y is what we hear about and people hate it....Z is what we end up with, people hate it, yet still see it and still talk endlessly about it. That's how it goes. Who cares about what bots are in it, just let July come, see it or don't, buy the toys or not....that's how the world works. Bay's known for his effectiveness with a budget, so I highly doubt he's going to waste any of the CGI budget on that. Coupled with Nelson's contradictary remarks, they're definitely in the movie. And you know what, that's perfectly fine.

 

Guys, it's not hard to either a) not use the footage of the cars shot for the film, or b) use the footage and have the cars transform into robots that AREN'T Skids or Mudflap.
