LOL pretty funny actually. But wait a sec, since suicide is a major sin in Christianity/Old & New Testaments and the pic with him being in 'heaven' and all (another concept of the same faiths), shouldn't Cobain be surrounded by flames in that pic?
Yeah, if there's a heaven and a hell, Kurt would definitely be in the latter. Specifically, he would be transformed into a thorny bush in the middle ring of the seventh circle, and be constantly clawed at by harpies. I guess the harpies could wear the boots? Then the claws wouldn't be sharp, and Kurt could be, like, YAH IM GLAD I BROUGHT THESE DOC MARTENS THIS ISNT SO BAD ITS KIND OF OKAY
It's not that bad. What would've been worse, was if he was shown as a corpse in his coffin, wearing the boots. (I just creeped myself out)
I believe it's only the catholic church that believes that suicide is an automatic ticket to hell. The other faiths within the christian church are a little more forgiving. I think the ad works, though not the way Doc martens says they were going for. To me it's a symbol of how much Doc martens wearers LOVE their boots. So much so that they still choose to wear them beyond the grave.
fyi, islam frowns on suicide too, unless its jihad, but thats a whole nother story. i dont mind, personally. the ad i mean. rather tacky tho.
This is true, however the original poster who brought up sin seemed to be speaking about christian faiths, what with his specific references to the old and new testaments, which is why I left Islam out. Also, I'm fairly certain none of the rock stars used in the ad were muslim. For that matter, they were probably all atheists.
Are you kidding? Pagans have the BEST afterlives! Look at Valhalla, tell me that's not better than sitting on some clouds doing nothing all day. If I thought I had an eternity of eating, drinking, fighting and screwing waiting for me, I'd be trying to die constantly!
I'm pretty sure that both Joe Strummer and Joey Ramone were Catholic. I don't know about the other two.
Well, Strummer was born in Turkey to a scottish mother and an english civil servant father. I'm having trouble tracking down his religion, though. Chances are either catholic, or anglican. However, Joe didn't kill himself, so according to catholic doctrine, he's all aces for heaven.
This is no where as bad as having some guy being digitally altered to look like Orville Redenbacher. Now those are creepy and as tasteless as the popcorn.
