I know a number of us on the boards 'infringe' on intellectual property everyday, but do be careful when you are using the actual logo with no modification whatsoever (no, colour changes do not count). Hasbro tends to be quite iffy with logos and you're putting yourself into a position with no escape.

This is especially so when you said you are going to use it for your own company.

Why pay licensing fees? That's wasted money. Just change your logo.

I assume it has something to do with plastics and armies.

A small toy store. And I don't want to change it I like it. Licencing fees aren't that much

I think this is a good idea, however I don't think the Autobot symbol reads well as a 'Y'. That plus the ip others have mentioned really give good reasons to alter the logo.

Have you looked into the licensing fees already? I would imagine Hasbro's fees would be huge for anything Transformers-related.

yeah i sent them an email. but from what i herd since its not on merchandise that i am selling it should only be a few hundred.IDK maybe i will think of something else i really thought the autobot logo looked like the Y and it fit well but it seems like some people dont think it does

That's the great thing about being able to share your artwork here for critique. We give you an extra set of eyes that you otherwise wouldn't have. With the graphic design work I've done in the past, trust me, I've had days like this one, too.

The star does work for the 'A' because of the similar shape and that it's easy to read. Plus, that type of design work has been done before throughout graphic design history. Consider things like "SE7EN" as well. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. :)

Also, I doubt Hasbro would license the Autobot logo to you without an obscene amount of collateral and a very strict contract. You would essentially be representing Hasbro and there's always the chance you could do something like turn your store into an Adult Shop, which would reflect EXTREMELY poorly on Hasbro, a kid's toy company.

The autobot logo may work better as a Y if you considerably lighten the outside facial features..and/or darken the center to form the Y..another option to think about too.
For me, as long as Hasbro and you are kosher, then with the adjustment to the Y, (just so it's understood by one and all) if you like it, then you're good to go. :thumb
