    So.

You have a pair of lower limbs and feet that do... what exactly when uncombined?

That looks great. I am amused to see there's a visor piece on his face.

They could transform to a pile of kibble for all I care, they're actual HANDS and FEET.

Ooooooh, nice! Took a moment to realize the visor, but wow! He looks so much better. If it's cheap enough I might pick it up when I get Movie/Universe 2.0 Superion.

Can I just ASK why the collossal robot whose ONLY purpose is to combine and fight things has to have realistic feet and hands instead of, say, limbs that make it easier to crush, kill, shoot and rend?

This fandom constantly advocates overly traditional aesthetics over creativity and play value.

Alot of people complained that the Energon weapon hands and feet were garbage, and wanted something akin to the original G1 combiner's hands and feet, even if it was still kibble. I myself find no problem with the energon limbs, but that's just me.

If the combiners had looked like that to begin with, I might would've cared enough to get them!

Yes, a lot of people complained, but does that automatically validate it?

Let me illustrate what I mean?

Constructicon Maximus can tear people apart and crush shit with his limbs' claws, as the toy is constructed.

    Devastator... can POINT. I guess.

Let's see feet for stability, instead of flat loose clear plastic sleds. Articulated hands to grab and crush smaller robots. Function comes before form for me usually, but those clear plastics parts neither "crush, kill, shoot and rend" or make it easy to place said combiner in a action pose.

    I concur.

I love that TFs moved away from needing extra parts to form basic modes (G1 Seeker hands, G1 Prime hands, etc.), but honestly, the Energon gestalt hands and feet just don't cut it, at all.

I'd have been more for FAST pack type attachments that became the extremeties, but really for a Superion that has real fists, and real feet, I don't care if I just have to put them aside when they're not combined.

As to why we're so attached? Because it's a CLASSICS design that's supposed to evoke the original Superion, who had, yes, hands and feet! Plus, an iconic image is the Gestalt picking up smaller bots or weilding giant death cannons, which they can't do with poorly aped pincers.

I'm all for any new combiner Hasbro creates to have deathpaws, granted they're well made and stable.

    Those are articulated hands?

Because they look like solid plastic to me.

Meanwhile, say, Constructicon Maximus can open and close his.

And I'd say a hand that IS a gun is more interesting than a hand that simply holds them.

Actually, to me it looks like the fingers are articulated.
