Well, I guess everything from the 80s is new again... I wonder if they'll still make it an interactive "show" somehow, or if they'll do web content.

From the video, it sounds like neither. Whenever I've heard Gary Goddard talk about the original show, he seems to approach it as something more serious and less reliant on that gimmick. The new show being billed as a 1-hour drama, so I'm hoping they leave what didn't work off the show.

I can honestly say this one thing I never expected to be given another chance. Maybe there is hope for another Inhumanoids run after all.

I'm absolutely thrilled, because I loved this show growing up. I actually just got a box that my dad pulled from storage with my old XT-7. But I'm glad to hear they're targeting the adult audience and trying to expand on the universe more, because the writing on this show was just outstanding. After all, you had JMS pre-Babylon 5(in fact, one of the characters mentions escaping from Babylon 5 in a Captain Power episode), and Larry DiTillio pre-Beast Wars. I think you can see where both those shows got some of their sensibilities from.

I just hope they don't end this one on a cliffhanger, too. =p

And anyone else willing to bet Tim Dunigan plays Mentor in the new version?

Gotta start putting away some pennies to buy the new toys.

The only thing I'm worried about is too much CGI. But as long as there's a good story, I'm in.

I always thought that was one of the most interesting aspects of it, and thought it would have done really well as a "Dragon's Lair" style interactive video.

But yeah, the original series was surprisingly dark and dramatic for a show that was supposedly geared towards kids. I could see them very easily trying to give it the "Battlestar Galactica" treatment.

Wow, never would have expected this.

I forget the name, but I had the bad-guy jet/fighter, and on the video, I still had to shoot the bad-guys. Still the toys and the show were so much fun, from what I do remember.

The original show was well written, the special effects for the time were impressive but the CGI was so bad it didn't hold up over time. If written as well I wouldn't mind seeing it make a come back.

Sauron. He was a less funny version of BM Jetstorm.

Wow, I recently read about the show on the internet when I was in a nostalgia mood and thought, this show would probably not work today. And here it comes back :lol

I really liked the show back then, but I remember mostly nothing.

Do you have money to get another one?

I have the XT-7, so if you do, we can pretend we're 7 again, we'll shoot at each other's jet.
    :lol

I wanted both when I was little, but parents...*sigh*...ya know?

Those training videos were awesome. I managed to keep them in decent shape.

haha, I remember being kind of upset that I had the Striker instead of XT-7 -- '80s Kid Problems, I guess.

I had the Striker well into the '90s, but I think one of the wings eventually broke off and it was probably chucked after that. :(

It only lasted one season because it cost a lot to produce and though the toys were popular, they didn't sell as well as they wanted. It was like a dark depressing power rangers, with a Hitler youth type group, and robots that killed. It was basically Nazi's with Robots. (Only to get around the killing, the characters weren't regularly killed, but digitized(Which looked painful)) Though some did die, including one of the main characters at the season's finale. One of the earliest shows to use CGI mixed with live action. Also featured toys that were interactive and kids could shoot at the bad guys when they watched the show, if they got hot too many times, the little figure was ejected from the cockpit of the space plane/gun. The acting was decent and they didn't write down to the kids.

Pretty much that, well stated. Very cutting edge for its time.

For those who still don't know, it was so early, that the idea of "digitizing" eventually becoming "assimilation" for the Borg.

It was also awesome that the main villain went on to voice Magneto in the 90s X-Men series.

Also, one of the writers went on to write for our beloved Beast Wars.

I loved Captain Power as a youngin, it was such a dark and well written show it really opened doors for where and what a show could do.

I also loved Soaron and Blastarr. When I rewatched the series a few years back, it really did hold up quite well.
