Optimus always had an axe. In fact this is a lot more like his G1 version.

 

Ah, my bad then. I just noticed it being more prominent in Animated and War for Cybertron. Though, I do recall seeing it pop up in G1 at least once.

I'd say Optimus is more crazy prepared rather than overpowered.

Its turning out a lot of firsts are happening for DOTM,namely The Ark,then Optimus Prime with his trademark Trailer,and now the even bigger trademark Primes Energon Axe.I swear this movie is gonna be EPIC.

Wow, what's with Shockwave doing The Creep outside BK?

 

You know, now that I think about it, he may have only used it once in the original G1 premiere mini. (Unless I'm forgetting something.)

But it's always been remembered as a signature G1 Optimus Prime mele weapon.

 

Same thing with Megatron's mace. It was only in More Than Meets The Eye Part 2 (as far as I know) but it made it into the movie Megatron, and it's toy.

 

I sure hope Shockwave doesn't go down as easily as The Fallen did. What a disappointment he was.

 

From the look of it don't count on it. In the commercial in the background it looks like he is actually pushing Optimus back in the fight so I think it will be more of a Megatron/Optimus fight from the first movie. Length wise that is but definitely more entertaining.

 

I feel like ROTF (and now DOTM) Prime have been insanely badassified because of how he pretty much was pwned by Megatron at the end of the first movie. I wasn't happy with that fight, and I gather a lot of complaining was done by the fandom about it as well. So now he's insanely overpowered and I love it, except for the monumental inconsistency it makes for with the first movie (but continuity has never been a strong suit of Bay's, so it comes with the territory I suppose).

Prime's "calmer" scenes in which he's talking with his troops or the humans seem to demonstrate his peace-loving nature to me well enough. I haven't gotten the impression that he WANTS to fight, but the destruction of first his home and then the Allspark have just really pissed him off to the point that whenever he does have to become violent, he's totally all-out. Case in point: he would've taken out Grindor, Starscream, and Megatron all by himself in ROTF (and almost did) if his concern for others (Sam) hadn't overridden his battle senses.

 

Thats what I'm hoping for, something more like the Optimus/Megatron fight from the first movie.

 

that scene look like is after prime punches him in the side of chest cause it looks like his missing part of his chest his also missing the hose and arm cannon

 

Um I hate too break it too you, but there is no way in hell that Optimus could have killed all three of them.
