So I like the artist, thus I buy it off the stand.

Firstly, next to target 2006, it seems like is 6 pages short.
Secondly, nothing happened in the plot? What progress was there?

The pacing of this issue is infuriating.

    What are your opinions?

So basically your typical Bendis issue then.

Probably they went with a new identity because the old name is currently used by a member on Young Avengers.

I'm still not impressed with the artwork and the story so far is kinda blah. Hopefully all the flashbacks are done with so the story can actually go somewhere now.

Good, so I'm not the only one who feels a little ripped off.
What was the purpose of this issue? What was the progression of the plot? The cover is a longer read than the interiors.

    Grrrr....

    I've just dropped the title.
It started with some promise, but went down hill pretty fast. I stuck with it until the Civil War was over, but now there's no reason for me to stick around. All my favourites have gone over to THE MIGHTY AVENGERS (bar SPIDER-WOMAN) so that's my title of choice right now. Still, with Bendis in charge of that too, I don't know how long my interest will last.

I think Luke's comments about finding out who's pulling the strings with the whole Civil War/good guys are bad/bad guys are good thing show some promise. I think it would be cool if there was some mastermind behind the whole thing. Unfortunately, it will probably takes two years before they find out who.

I thought that was an inside/fourth wall joke about going after the current management (in a cheeky way).

I didn't take it to imply there was an organized series of events. But maybe there is an illuminati for the illuminati.

god, i hope there isnt some huge mastermind behind civil war...that cheapens the feel of CW to me....it was such a cool event to really think about and decide where you stood, and where your heroes stood, and having loki come out and be like "surpise, im a dick" wouldnt make me happy...

I must be one of the only ones not in love with the art on this book. It's really, I don't know, messy. Just not my taste, I guess.

His artwork is kinda hit or miss with me. On Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine it was pretty good. But on New Avengers it just seems a bit "cloudy" I guess. Like everything just seems to blend together and looks a bit messy at times.

Exactly. I've enjoyed some of his Wolverine stuff and I think the did that "widescreen" New X-Men annual a few years ago. That was really good too. When his stuff is clean, I like it. When it's messy, I don't.

Yu's art is nice, but it does seem rushed due to the latest style.

I think so much work is going into layout that the finishes are maybe not all there. I dunno, it could be a different inker/colourist too.

    My thoughts:

    - Ronin I suspected.
    - Yu's art sucks for an Avengers book. He would suit an Electra, DD, or some Knights book.
    - And if Iron man goes into Strange's house one more time and says "Nope, not here", I'm gunna be pissed.

I'm so sick of this this book. I really am.

Back when it first started it had good art and good writing. Now, it's all shit. The art is messy, the writing is boring and the pacing is all over the place. Seriously, was it really necessary for this arc to be a bunch of flashbacks? It would've worked so much better had it been mostly chronological with the occasional flashback at the beginning. After this arc I think both the writer and artist needs to be replaced, if this series is to improve.

My understanding is that only thing that happened is Doc Strange got stabbed. But the cover kinda told me that.

I don't understand what brother Voodoo is about.

Here's what happened in the issue:
    - Doc Strange got stabbed by Echo
    - Avengers fight Ninjas
    - Ronin turned out to be hawkeye
    - Luge Cage sucks as a leader
    - Iron man scans for lifeforms at Strange's house again
    - Peter goes completely out of character and asks why they are really fighting Tony
    - Bad art
