As I'm sure you're all aware, there is a new unnamed Autobot comming to Team Prime. Screen captures so far only show his vehicle as a white and blue race/sports car cith a number 38 on the side door. Some claime that the new Autobot is Smokescreen, who's rally car mode wore the number 38 in G1. But I don't think this is Smokescreen, I think it's Jazz.
Allow me to explain. Since the end of the orrid Unicron Trilogy (Armada, Energon, Cybertron), Jazz has appeared in the first Bay Transformer movie, all three movie toylines, the popular Transformers Animated show, in War for Cybertron as DLC, and in Fall of Cybertron as a main character.
This means that younger fans, the target audience for Transformers Prime, know Jazz and who he is more than they do Smokescreen. The number 38 could just be an homage to Smokescreen that Jazz will have on his vehicle mode.

 

That's an idea except that the new bot doens't have Jazz's famous visor.

I say Smokescreen. Others have pointed it out in that the #38 clearly appears on his door panels, a number utilized by Smokescreen in G1. Also, Smokescreen was mentioned in the 1st Season Prime DVD as a character who was on the table to be die instead of Cliffjumper, with CJ obviously taking on that sacrificial lamb role instead. He was taken off the table because he's the favorite of the Hasbro folks. So, does this mean he'd be next in line for inclusion in the show? Of course not, but you put enough evidence together-

-#38 on door panel
-Favorite of Hasbro folks
-No Prime toy yet in the line

And you have something vaguely representing evidence to support his appearance. The only negative to this being that grey model proto for Smokescreen from the recent Tokyo Toy Show that clearly shows a reuse of the Knockout mold. In the end though I still say Smokescreen.

 

Could be retractable like in the movies.

I'd love it if it was Jazz...but my luck it's not. Jazz hasn't had a main role since...pretty much G1...the movie he had like 33 speaking lines and died a death no one remembers. FoC is the first time in a long time he's gotten a bigger role. But most likely it's Smokescreen cause of the 38 (tho the markings look more like Jazz).

I have no strong opinion on this, but i will admit that some small suspicion points to Smokescreen, because Prime is notorious for bringing in guys that fans know but are not necessarily as mainstream as Megs or Jazz or Prime or Bee

 

Hey guys, we're gonna give him Smokescreen's head crest, Smokescreen's 38 rather than Jazz's 4, but still call him Jazz anyway!

It's Smokescreen. Arcee is barely relevant to a most of those pieces of media you listed, but that doesn't stop her from being practically the main Autobot of the show.

Im gonna go with Smokescreen because of the Number 38. If it was Jazz the animators would of made a grave mistake NO VISOR which this bot does not have.

 

Or it could be a totally new character.

 

It will be a combination of Smokescreen, Bluestreak (sp), and Prowl rolled into one bot.

 

It's Smokescreen. I'm kind of confused as to why people are being so hesitant to accept it lol

 

Really want it to be Jazz, but pretty sure it is Smokescreen. And there is nothing wrong with that.

 

I hope that it is Smokescreen, since I actually had the G1 toy when I was younger! lol He was one of the few Autobots that I had, and since I couldn't find Prowl (when I had money to spend...he always showed up in stores when I had no allowance saved up), I went with Smokescreen.

 

How do you know what the new bot's head looks like?
