After the NXE update, I always installed ME or Oblivion whenever I played them, especially Oblivion. Didn't save my 360 from RRODing though Had mine for almost 3 years now. Sucker just up and did it about 2 weeks ago or so, right out of the blue. I got up one morning, turned my TV on, and while I was getting dressed I suddenly heard my 360 make a noise. Looked over and sure enough, the 3 red lights were flashing. SOB wasn't even turned on and RRODed!
Mine is making loud ass noises, started after playing ODST last night and switching to Halo 3 Multiplayer
Oh God... Oh Jesus, I just know I'm next. I know I don't play it that often, but that doesn't mean I want it to RROD. But what I REALLY should be doing is playing the living shit out of it so that I can Kill it before ME2 comes out.
So is it a sure thing that every 360 will eventually RROD? Are there any steps that can be taken to try preventing it?
Keep it in a cool, well ventilated area. Avoid long, marathon play sessions. Don't leave it sitting idle for long periods. And install games when possible. But even then that's no guarantee. Sooner or later, it WILL happen.
This is bad info. Short bursts overheat everything far too quickly. Turning things on, off then back on again is never friendly to electronic processing equipment. Its like a PC its always better to have it on for long periods than on and off all the time. Totally agree on installing everything just a shame the hard drive is a little too small in the long run.
if you get the RROD i believe its free to have your console repaired/replaced. any other fault costs to get fixed.
Well I meant don't power it on and sit there playing a game 12 hours straight or something(installed or not). And I've seen a few people on my friends list leave their 360's sitting idle for long stretches before, sometimes even overnight(why I have no idea). That's a big no-no.
Actually, studies have proven this to be false. Most modern electronic equipment doesn't experience the same type of "start shock" that some older electronics did. Over the mid and long term, you actually prevent more damage and save more electricity by turning off your electronics when you aren't actively using them, at least according to a few articles and reports I've read recently.
I got my 360 in June and the only problem I've had was it over heated ONCE but it was about 90ยบ in my house and I played for like 3.5 hours
