This is what my dad would call a "deal breaker" for their relationship.

So much for cops ALWAYS getting away with things. Though the wife thing may be a very large counterbalance.

Yeah, its probably a "revenge" thing of sorts...definitely a "dealbreaker" in a relationship.

Wow, everybody is blaming the husband for doing that to the wife, I was thinking how could the wife, knowing that her and her husband are cops, drive drunk and possibly but her husband in the situation where he has to do something unethical or piss her off.

If the wife is married to a cop, and still dumb enough to drink and drive, she should be arrested.

I'm guessing he called for backup so he wouldn't have to be the one to arrest her, file the paperwork, etc. It says he left shortly after they arrived.

And who knows, maybe she has a drinking problem and this presented itself as a way for him to make he get help? Tough love and all that...but yeah, I think he definitely did the right thing. What were his options, let her keep going, maybe kill someone, just 'cause she's a deputy and his wife also?

I was thinking the reason he left was more a "conflict of interests." There could be all sorts of legal entanglements if he was the one to arrest her. This way, the PD could say that the arrest was impartial and fair.

Although, if I were her husband, I would be worried about falling asleep for a while. Hopefully, she's not the bitter type.

He called for back up because when a male officer is dealing with a female a female officer must be present. I too assume he left because of the conflict of interest.

As to why? Either he is a police through and through and no one is above the law in his eyes (alla Serpico) or the wife scorned him something fierce and this is the revenge he was praying for. Either way, a definate deal breaker.

    Thanx

Nice. Let that be a lesson to all you drunk broads. Blow at home and you don't have to blow into the breathalyzer.

He did what he is paid to do. He took an oath to uphold the law. Simple as that. Too bad his wife got arrested, but she should have known better than most people what she was doing was against the law.
