I got to try out my friends Stampede last night. It was pretty awesome. I think I'm definitely gonna pick up the Vulcan.
I see what you did there. Kweh? You tried out and liked the Stampede, but you're going for the Vulcan instead?
Kind of a funny story about the Vulcan, when my friends and I were doing Nerf Wars at a park, one of the members in the group decided to buy the Vulcan. Instead of buying it well ahead of time, he bought it that morning, so he arrived and unboxed it in the parking lot. Except he hadn't brought any batteries, so he had to use it manually. He also had never fired it before on a manual cycle (obviously) and there's a bit of a trick to it. Our first game of the day was capture the Fortress and I had my brand new Firefly; I was on the storming team, he was in the turret defending (Our rules are when an invader stands on the Turret platform, the invaders win). Everyone else on my team was too afraid of his giant gun to attack him and instead all my teammates went to the other end where all the other defenders were for this giant exchange of weaponsfire. I was headed right at the turret and Mr. Vulcan fired his first shot. I sidestepped it and kept coming, cocking my Firefly. That was the last shot he fired. He jammed the gun and couldn't get it to cycle. To add insult to injury, once I realized that, instead of shooting him and climbing the ladder I just climbed the ladder and took the turret, ending the game, all the while he was frantically trying to get the gun to cycle. Nowadays he's quite good with the Vulcan, even without using the batteries.
I need to pick up a weapon to defend my cube in the office. Can anyone give me a suggestion of the best gun under 20 bucks? I was thinking the Target alpha trooper or the Toys R Us exclusive shotgun. I'm tempted to just pick up the mace, but that is probably too much of an escalation.
I just got into Nerf during Christmas. Here's my current arsenal: Barricade RV-10 (x2) Barrel Break IX-2 Recon CS-6 Secret Strike AS-1 Of the bunch, my favorite is the Barricade, as I'm more into dual-wielding. The Recon is the only one I didn't have to pay for, as my brother has decided to stick with his Alpha Trooper CS-18. I'm looking to pick up the Stampede ECS later this year. In the meantime, here are some pics of my collection.
The Maverick is an excellent basic Nerf gun and is great bang for the buck. After that, the Barricade or Target Alpha Trooper are excellent choices. Do you want a battery-powered gun for easy one-handed use (the Barricade) or more of a rifle that uses the clip system for easy reloading? It's up to you. On another note, bringing it up here since it's under the Nerf brand, anyone get one of these yet? My local Target has them in stock: http://urbantaggers.blogspot.com/2010/12/preview-unreleased-super-soaker.html It looks to be a water version of the Barricade, which sounds cool.
When I first saw that, it reminded me of this: YouTube - Entertech Water Gun Commercial "The look! The feel! The sound, so real! Entertech!"
Here's a closer look at the upcoming Dart Tag Quick 16. YouTube - Nerf Dart Tag 2011 - Quick 16 - Unboxing & Review Vid YouTube - Nerf Dart Tag Quick 16 - Basic Mod Tutorial 1/2 YouTube - Nerf Dart Tag Quick 16 - Basic Mod Tutorial 2/2
that Entertech commercial gave me the goosebumps. thanks for a retro-kidgasm. i saw those in a hobby shop back in the day, but i couldn't afford the prices for them at the time. as for nerf, i have been waiting for a new gun to come out that made me salivate like the Longstrike did. i just haven't felt that way about the Recon.
Nerf wins big this year: N-Strike Stampede ECS - "Boy Toy of the Year" Super Soaker Shot Blast - "Outdoor Toy of the Year" The 11 Best Toys of 2011
No more N-strikes for this year? Man, I love the N-strike line. It's the only line worth collecting. Wish Hasbro would release the Scout IX-3 like they did with the Reflex IX-1.
Woohoo! Just added the Stampede ECS to my arsenal for my birthday. So my current arsenal is as follows: Stampede ECS Barricade RV-10 (x2) Barrel Break IX-2 Secret Strike AS-1 with Sleeve Gun attachment (WIP) Tactical Scope and Tactical Light (taken from the Element EX-6 gift set)
