Is anyone else tired of the Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy/Black Whatever? Why is it that for the Decepticons to get a truly successful bad guy, they have to make a clone of the Autobot leader, paint him black, and flip the switch to evil? And naming him Scourge isn't any better, we already have a Decepticon named Scourge, we don't need another.

Or when are they going to make a valiant, white-washed Nemesis Megatron?

I can't really think of any mainstream american continuity where a "Nemesis Prime" has been "successful". Do you mean successful in terms of popularity?

He's just an inevitable repaint because black and red look good to collectors, and prime is a popular character.

Well, I guess successful isn't the best way to say it, since Decepticons are never successful in any continuity anyway. They however do tend to get a higher degree of success than Megatron sometimes.

I like Nemesis Prime just because he usually looks badass. Megatron should always be gray or maybe black, never white.

Because if done right, everything look's good in black?

I can't picture any Decepticons in white to be honest.

I really like Nemesis Prime in the Universe 1 line. Seeing as he was a Herald of Unicron, and he had the Dead Matrix, it made a lot of sense to me.

As far as a Nemesis Megatron, we got that in Shattered Glass, sort of. He wasn't named Nemesis, but he was a hero. I don't think making a "Valiant" Megs in any of the other continuities would make a lot of sense.

I forgot about him! Wasn't he one of those spring-loaded Throttlebots?

And he was based on the Big Convoy mould, too!

(By the way, it seems that particular Nemesis is now working with the Alternity - albeit as the anti-hero of the group.)

Shattered Glass was nothing but Nemesis. I'm just wondering how making an evil Prime makes more sense than making a heroic Megatron.

Because in most of the continuities where there is a Nemesis Prime he is either created by a Decepticon to be an Optimus clone with the same abilities as Optimus, or he is created by Unicron as an anti-thesis to Optimus and the Autobot Matrix. A heroic Megatron in most cases couldn't be "made" the way Nemesis Prime is "made" because it takes away his (Megatron's) free-will, and as we all know, G1 Optimus says "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

..and Breakdown and Ramjet is also pretty white.
But yeah, it's usually not a decepticon color.

Nemesis prime is always a nice toy repaint. My favorite "black" prime is the 01 Jafcon Optimus Prime.

However, other than RID scourge, we haven't seen to many "Nemesis" primes in the cartoons.

Given that I just picked up a Car Robots Black Convoy, I'd say I'm nowhere near sick of black Prime repaints. :D

I don't see anything wrong with Nemesis Prime. I think he's awesome! Other than his appearances in RID (as Scourge) and in Armada, he hasn't been featured in many TF series and I'd sure like to see him featured more in the cartoons.

I have more of an issue with people mistaking the black w/ red Prime as "Nemesis Prime" when he's actually Nucleon Quest Convoy, and very much still an Autobot.

Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime usually have the dark blue & teal deco. And the Car Robot version still had Autobot emblems on, albeit upside down.

Black Convoy get the teal. Nemesis Prime gets tan.

Honestly though, there are far more Black Convoys than there are Nemesis Primes. Hasbro has yet to go black repaint crazy, like Takara.
