    Ebay:
My father in law recently purchased an ipod to listen to while riding his motorcycle. He wants me to load it with rock music from the 60's and 70's.

Problem is, I am 25 and havent a CLUE what bands were around then, let alone which ones were any good. So I come to my good friends of tfw2005 for some help.
    Any suggestions?

Find a classic rock radio station in your city/town, or find one streaming online, and just listen for awhile. Shouldn't take much more than a couple of days for you to get a general idea of the bands that were the most popular and have the most staying power.

Jimi Hendrix is the best. Queen and Led Zepplin kick all sorts of ass, too.

    The Beatles, obviously.

Pink Floyd Is my favorite of them all .....

    'American Pie' was Don McLean

Also, it depends on how much 60s he likes. Beatles, the Who, the Stones, all great bands. But there were also a lot of acts that were 'good,' but not great. I'm thinking The Monkees, The Turtles, Jefferson Airplane, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Tommy James and the Shondells, Neil Diamond's early career, and don't forget the King himself, Elvis.
Then you got all your Motown stuff (The Temptations, the Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Aretha Franklin, Jackson 5), Otis Redding, Barry White, Sam and Dave, and other soul/ R&B.

Then there's a bunch of one-hit wonders to consider, like "A Little Bit O' Soul" by The Music Explosion, "The Letter" from The Box Tops, Barry and the Tamerlanes "I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight," and "In-a-Gadda-Davida" from Iron Butterfly.

Then you got your weird, funky stuff. "They're Coming to Take Me Away (Ha Ha)," "Flying Purple People Eater," "Little Red Riding Hood," and so on.

To some up, the late 60s were probably one of the best eras for pop music due to the sheer variety and amount of experimentation going on. Put some of it on your own iPod while you're at it.
