Ok so I bought a G1 Prime with the gray parts and the metal trailer from Wheeljackslab on ebay. Yeah I know a lot of people hate him but until recently I had no problem with him. Well when the toy arrived the trailer tabs for the back door hinge were smashed off and it was packaged pretty bad. E-mailed him and he said that his daughter packaged it and to send the trailer back only and he would send me a new one. Fast forward a few weeks and he can't find a metal plate trailer and said he will refund me $20 plus my shipping for the trailer or I can wait until one comes along. I paid 180, I know it's a lot, but I bought it because I have a mint Prime pre-rub box and want to put the metal plates Prime in it. I basically bought this for the metal plates so the Prime with the gray parts isn't doing me any good because I have a bunch of that stuff. Any suggestions on what to do? Do I send the rest back and get a full refund? Wait for a Diaclone trailer? Or take a partial refund? I think $20 is too low since the only reason he had it priced so high is because of the rarity of the trailer. If you would take a partial refund...what would you think i fair???
So you paid for something and sent it back and he's not even willing to refund you your original purchase price? Bullshit. I can understand him wanting you to eat the cost of shipping, but even then it's kind of shady given it's his fault the piece arrived broken. But an offer of a $20 refund on a $180 piece you've returned is a fucking insult.
He only offered you $20 back?? Yeah, that's a slap in the face. I'd start taking things up with eBay/PayPal.
Wow. I never had a problem with him but that's total Bullshit for only $20. I would take it up with Paypal.
Well he only had me send back the trailer and keep the rest. He was supposed to just replace the trailer, but now he can't find a metal plate trailer and doesn't have much of a timeframe for finding one. . He offered the $20 refund for just the trailer and I keep the rest of the parts. My problem is I bought it for the trailer mostly, otherwise I am paying $160 for a prime cab and parts. I don't want to fight with the guy, he has been in constant contact the whole time. What would you guys say is a fair refund if I kept the cab and the complete parts?
Dude, you're getting the reach around. Bring it up to claims before you're ineligible to. They will take care of everything including you getting your money back. You might as well do that, send the figure back, get your full money back... then spend that money and get a cheaper version of the very same toy.
We'd have to know what the other parts are. Regardless of what YOU wanted, would you say the parts you're keeping are worth $160? Do you think the trailer is worth $20 on its own, or more, as a fair market value. I don't think we have the same definition of "reach around". Did you mean "getting the run around?". Because he's certainly getting PART of what entails a "reach around", I guess.
Prime without the trailer is half a toy, so the refund should be half, $80. I don't think a mint cab with accessories is worth much more than that. That $80 would be based on that being exactly what you wanted, a half a toy for $80, it doesn't cover your time packing the trailer for return, or headache. Think about what you may get if you sold that cab outright on eBay when you do eventually get the full toy that you actually wanted. If you couldn't make yourself whole, tell him you want a full refund and mail the cab back,
Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'll just send it back and get the full refund. Don't want to continue getting the runaround.....or a reacharound. Hell if I was getting a reacharound at least I would feel somewhat satisfied....
next time...don't purchase from that person or anyone on the bad sellers list...we have that listing for a reason.
Yeah definitely send the whole thing back and get a full refund. It's the cleanest way to do things. For future reference, I think a partial refund should be equal to the replacement cost of the piece. It would have cost you more than $20 to buy a replacement trailer I'm assuming.
Hey man, open a case against him and let Ebay handle it. You just have to sit back and watch the show. You should have nothing to worry about. Ebay is all about buyer protection. Ebay will ask that you try to solve the issue with him but you let Ebay know you did and nothing is working. Ebay will inform you to send everything back, you'll get a refund, and they will deal with him. Just make sure you get Delivery Confirm Number.
Why pay for something you don't want or need? What you bought it for isn't there, so screw it, send it all back and ask for a full refund. If he's such a nice and stand up guy to you, he should be willing to do so with no issues at all. Open a dispute with Paypal to cover yourself before its too late to do so.
