I have a ATI Radeon 1300 Pro that went belly up more than a year ago. Because of my son's birth I've decided to put off getting a new 3D card until now. Now that I have decided to get back into WOW I want a new graphics card but I can't find Radeon 1300 anywhere for sale. I don't know if getting the latest graphics card means I have to upgrade my PC, but that's what my brother did. I really don't want to shell out $1,000 or more getting a PC or laptop just so I can get a new graphics card. So what are my options?

BTW my PC is around 3-4 years old. If you need me to provide the specs let me know.

It will all depend on what slots you've got on your motherboard. Do you know if it has a PCI-Express slot? Pretty much all graphics cards these days are for PCI-Express slots. If your computer is 3 - 4 years old it's possible it only has an AGP slot.

I may have to take a picture and show you cuz I don't know for sure. My friend who's a computer technician put together the computer for me so there are many things I don't know about my PC. And since he'd move back to Taiwan there's no way I can ask him. If it's got AGP slot like you said what are my options in terms of graphic cards?

you dont have to upgrade all of it, just the graphics card...

if you have AGP, it'll be hard to find but Best Buy and Circuit City still carries it...and it'll go around ~$100-$150. Sucks that the price is still high...

for PCI-E, which is the norm now, most should be able to play WoW with ease. Prices go from ~$100-$500...

as for AGP options, i would check out newegg, they tend to have more to choose.

I see. So I may not need to upgrade my PC after all? I am just afraid that after getting the card I found out it's not compatible with my PC. Maybe I should find out if it's AGP or PCI first..

funny, i always was a ATI fan (every computer i had was a ATI) but for my next computer and if i upgrade this one again, it'll be a NVIDIA.

maybe it has to do with AMD buying them out :p

but yeah, take a pic and and we'll be able to help further.

Ive always been a nvidia person but ati's new cards are kick ass and you wont have to eat kraft dinner for a month just to afford it.
