Bought the Nerf Longshot to paint up, but not actually sure which way to go with it.

Should I paint it black, then do the edges in silver/gray?

Or paint the whole thing gun metal grey and put some black wash over areas

Id like to put a chainsaw baronet on it, but if I did that it'll probably look better in black. Not sure which color to paint it, never did something this big and wanted some second opinions first.

I also could'nt find any gunmetal krylon, so I bought some Valspar plastic primer , so the metallic gunmetal paint will stick, since the paint isn't meant for plastic. Hope that works ok.

Did a test spray on one of those cheap $1 waterguns

    Thanks in advance

Silver/gray would probably look more "alive" whatever that means.

I think you should paint it whatever color you want and if you want to make it look realistic then I'm cool with it.

The little gun looks cool, just go that route and give it a dark wash later if you want.

    Black with Gun Metal Accents!

And maybe a touch of sliver here and there...

Flat black. Then give it a silver rub here and there, but leave the parts that look like composite plastics in flat black.

Maaaan... that's a frickin' SWEET Nerf gun. I love it.

    Thx for the replies

Here it is with 2 coats of clear plastic primer, can't really tell though.

Only taped up the scope lenses, trying not to get paint inside

Was thinking of making it all gunmetal colored, then put some random camoflaug-y black stripes on areas.
Or If I dont like the grey, will just throw a coat of krylon black over the main body, and leave the edges grey, then put some silver (& maybe some slight copper) wash on the greys.

Want it too look like it's been used in battle, and scarred up & worn.

May do the handles in black, still need to take it apart and primer where the 2 guns connect to each other

I just hate to see a good can of gunmetal not get used after looking everywhere for it :lol

I say got with Krylon Fusion Hammered Shimmer Black.
It has specks of silver in it, and will give it a neat look when finished. It looks a lot like a Hammered Gunmetal when dry.

That's awesome, and beyond my skills. Read the comments and they seemed pretty bummed out it does'nt fire. But that's what kinda sucks about the Longshot, is it only holds 6 rounds and fires one at a time (it stores another six) A gun this big needs more firepower but I can understand since it's a 2 in 1

Maybe I'll stick to the Ripley route, just need a flamethrower attachment :lol

D00d that finish is slick. Just a little weathering here and there and it will be awesome.

Hav'nt removed anything yet, even though I probably shouldve done that before painting

Going to do the spring mod to it, by adding a toilet paper roll spring to the piston. But leaving the restrictor in. It'll shoot MUCH farther :lol

There's enough room for one of those laser pointers to go in, and beam out the front. May add one

    TC, thanks man

smog :lol , Im not planning on aiming at anyone or taking it outside , just shooting cats and the gf's ass
Though Im curious what the cops would think If I was laying in the grass sniping squirrels with it, in the front yard.

Its looking very good, Chaos Muffin. It kinda looks like one those guns in Halo series, but I'm just speculating. Good job nonetheless.

Using different springs makes it work so much better I just stretched the existing springs and it made a big difference. GF's a$$es are always the best targets. Just make sure you play it MGS style and stay hidden.
