I'm thinking of buying a lot from someone I've been helping out lately, the only problem is the shipping is ALOT fedex says $625, ups says $490, and frieght shipping is $255-360, also this is coming from cali and going to NJ. Mind you these don't look to be yellowing, they just look extremely dusty, and since I only collect TFs that's the only part of this collection I'd keep for myself(plus there's a bunch of accessories NOT pictured). He's willing to sell the lot cheap because he doesn't want or need them, he just wants to get rid of them. Do you think it's worth it?:

This looks to me as if he is trying to dump his junk on you that he can't be arsed to sort out for proper sale.

You could consider multiple flat rate USPS boxes instead.

    Hrm.
At a quick look, I can see:
    GI JOE
    USS Flagg
    Mauler MBT
    Skystriker
    MOBAT
    Moray Hydrofoil
    Thunder Machine
    Crimson Sabotage HISS Tank
    Bridge Layer
    Devilfish
    STUN
    HAVOC
    APC
    Rattler
    Water Moccasin
    AWE Striker
    SHARC
    Stinger
    VAMP
    Dragonfly
    HISS Tank
    Command Center
    Tactical Battle Platform
    Pogo Ballistic Battle Ball
    Killer WHALE

    STAR WARS
    Millennium Falcon
    Twin Pod Cloud Car
    Y-Wing
    Rancor
    X-Wing
    Rebel Transport
    Slave 1
    Imperial Shuttle
    A-Wing
    Large Boba Fett figure
    Sail Barge
    Landspeeder (possibly 2)
    AT-AT
    AT-ST

    CENTURIONS
    Max Ray

    MASK
    Switchblade
    Hurricane
    Firecracker

I haven't listed the TFs; you're after the lot for them so I would imagine you've already had a close look.
I can understand the high shipping quotes ; that is an absolute shitload of plastic just with the Fort Max, USS Flagg parts, Imperial Shuttle and Killer WHALE.
However it's impossible to tell if any of that is complete. I see a lot of parts for most of them GI Joe stuff, but I also don't see a lot of parts.
You could sell the GI Joe bits fairly well, but I'd expect it to take a long time to get shot of them all. I don't know how well the Star Wars stuff would sell, but it all appears to be original 80s stuff (the entire lot does, in fact). Centurions & MASK don't seem to go for much generally.
I would expect you make a fair bit of that shipping back eventually, but it certainly wouldn't happen anywhere near overnight.
I'd say it depends on how badly you want the TFs, and how dedicated you are to selling off the rest of it. Bear in mind that you could end up with a lot of stuff just sitting there for quite a while.

Turns out everything in this lot was the original releases. I bought it for $600 shipped, and thus far I've made $2136.64 on this, and I still have a bunch of stuff to sale, namely a near complete GI Joe USS Flagg ship(even has all 16 clips), a huge GoBot collection, and some more TFs. I even have a very hard to find Sears exclusive Cat tank(black with red highlights tank). Also it's only taken about a month a month and a half, Fort Max nearly paid for the entire lot again. The guy did forget a couple things, a near complete Optimus(non-pm), Large Boba Fett, Springer, Red Bumblebee, Red Cliffjumper, and some others
