Well, I've decided to look into a new series and can't make up my mind what to go for. Thinking either Angelic Layer, Chobits, I dunno, just something with a good amount of episodes that won't blow my budget. What ones would ya'll recrommend?

I'd recommend some, but it sounds like you enjoy more feminine anime than I do. (I seriously don't mean that as insult)

Unless you haven't seen Azumanga Daioh, that's kinda feminine and it's really good.

Chobits isn't too bad, my all time favorite is Ah My Goddess. Depends totally on your taste, among my top ones are Full Metal Panic and other more action oriented ones.

Oh god yes. Azumanga Daioh is the best. And in my opinion, has one of the best dubs I've seen in awhile. It's just one of those where you can tell everyone's having a good time. Also, Osaka rules.

I third the Azumanga Daioh suggestion.

School Rumble is quite worth watching. And Moon Phase.

Chobits was indeed a very enjoyable series. Well worth a watch.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and its probably tooltastic/cliche/lame by now, but I'll throw in a vote for Death Note.

If you want a good dose of awesome, I suggest the 3 Getter Robo OVA series.

Shin Getter Robo: Sekai Saigo no Hi (US title, Getter Robo: Armageddon.) It's 13 episodes and is full of hotblood.

New Getter Robo is also 13 episodes and full of awesome and crazy people. It's also probably the most violent super robot anime ever.

Neo Getter Robo x Shin Getter Robo is only 4 episodes, but is also worth a quick watch. Here's the opening scene. It should be enough to convince anybody to check it out.

I was rather fond of the following:

Chrno Crusade: Demons, nuns, guns, and 1920's Chicago. Very sad ending.

Gokusen: Teacher is Yakuza boss.....comedy abounds.

Gunsmith Cats: Bounty Hunters, crazy Russians and a Shelby GT500 Mustang and Chicago.

If you have any interest in Fantasy, in the realm of Lord of the Rings, then I can recommend Record of the Lodoss Wars, Season 1 and 2. Great epic story with a lot of cool characters. Definitely one of my favorites.

How could I forget Lodoss War? Quite the epic series. It's almost like watching a D&D campaign.

Sweet, love the ideas. Lodoss is one I saw a tiny bit of a while back but forgot to nab it. Making a list now of what to get.

Nabbed The Platinum collection of Neon Genesis Evangelion off Ebay for $20, couldn't pass that up. But next week will be making another purchase of some awesome viewing material.

Chevalier: Le Chevalier D'Eon, nuff said.

It's 24 Episodes long, and has been released by ADV, plus it's awesome.

For "slice of over the top school life" Cromartie High and School Rumble were both hilarious and much more enjoyable than Azumanga Daioh(which was funny but wayyyyyyyyyy over rated)

I must second this for anyone who enjoyed Neon Genesis Evengelion cause it has a lot of the same stuff + love story.

Isn't it about some strange dude on an eternal quest for the pefect shag or something? I have one episode somewhere and I remember it being highly sexual.

Tengen Toppa GURREN LAGANN! The series will be released in 3 cheap sub-only boxsets this summer (and then dub/sub single dvds in 09). Keep this one on your radar, for sure!
