    Thats very sad.

A fella in the UK called Chris Packam (a knowledgeable TV nature guy) has said some controversial things recently about different aspects of nature, some I don't agree with but his assertion that Pandas should be left to go extinct is one I think I do agree with.

Chris Packham needs to pack more wisdom and less ham into that knowledgeable brain of his. He is espousing a typical and widespread form of reductionism that boils the entire world down to bleached bones and then wonders where all of the colors went.

Do we really want to tell our grandchildren that we got rid of the pandas because the cost of ten Abrams tanks was Too Much for the humans to afford?

Screw reductionism. If beauty has no meaning aside from dollars and cents, then we might as well sell the Louvre to Michael Bay.

Cause of death may be related to liver abnormalities:

Zoo panda cub that died had liver abnormalities - CBS News

Unfortunately, pandas don't breed well in captivity, and their offspring have a pretty low survival rate, especially at that young age.

In relation to letting them go extinct, you can talk about how difficult it is to keep their species going, and how important it is for humanity to be stewards of the planet we live on, but the situation is, sadly, never so black and white.

It is entirely possible that within our lifetimes the giant panda species will be gone.
