Nathan Fillion in The Avengers as Ant-Man? - Screen Rant
That could work. Too bad Norton probably isn't coming back to be Banner though.
My first choice for Cap playing Ant-Man? Crap. Ah well, he'll probably be great. Sucks we might not get Norton back as Banner though. He gave the character so much weight.
He mentioned in a recent interview he'd like to return for the part and be the villain.
It'd be nice, but Norton's grievances over the production of TIH are pretty well documented. I wouldn't be surprised if a deal didn't work itself out.
Nice what a movie Ant-Man looks like now who is playing Wasp?
If Edward Norton does return (Which I can see him doing) then great. But if not, then I honestly don't know who I would cast.
Fillion in a Live Action Comic Book Movie= Nice
Casted as Hank Pym = Okay, I guess. Although, I can't really picture him as Prof. Douche at all.
Fillion IS NOT Ant-Man; Pennington's S.H.I.E.L.D. Role Down to Three Candidates
However, there is always an outside chance that this works for Fillion as it did for Jackie Earl Haley and Freddie Kreuger - enough internet buzz and the producer/director take notice and realize its not an awful idea.
Factors to consider:
1. Age. Fillion is 39. If Pym is meant to be of that age, fine. If he's supposed to be younger, not so much. An advantage of that age is that they could cast Morena Baccarin as Wasp. Believe me - this isn't a Firefly thing. I had already thought that she'd be an interesting choice before hearing Capt. Mal might be in the running for AntMan. That they are of the same age group and have good chemistry is a plus.
2. Who decides? AntMan is unusual. His film is likely Edgar Wright's next project after Scott Pilgrim. It could end up filming around the same time as Avengers. In that case, who gets to cast him? Wright or Whedon?
3. Smarts. Pym is supposed to be a Stark-level genius. Fillion, OTOH, is best known for playing characters who's defining feature is cockiness. That will work well when it comes time to beat the Wasp, but that aspect should not be dominant.
4. Which Ant Man? There is also the possibility of two Ant Men. Wright could do the classic Pym, and there is some rumor that his film will be set in the past, while the Avengers Ant-Man could be Scott Lang or even Eric O'Grady (who would be a classic Fillon character).
First time I've heard about that, what issues did he have?
Ed Norton co-wrote the script, and says he was promised some sort of creative control with the editing of the film. He wanted additional character-driven scenes in the movie, while Marvel (still thinking about the bad reviews from Ang Lee's "Hulk" that said there wasn't enough action) decided to edit it down to a more traditional summer action flick with lots of action, minimal storytelling.
Scenes like Banner talking to Dr. Samson in the trailer:
It's scenes like that (which, ironically enough, didn't make it to the final cut) that Norton was talking about.
Gah they need to get Norton back as Banner.
Norton IS Banner, he damn well better come back!
This topic quickly went from being potentially awesome news to being potentially terrible news
Norton is open to coming back if you are open to having him back:
UPDATED: Edward Norton Will Return as the Hulk...if the Fans Want It!
No thank you, I don't want to fuel Norton's ever expanding ego. Either do the movie or don't, I say.
Do we have an Avengers movie topic? I'm too lazy to search so I'll just post this here

This should of course be taken with much salt. But man would it be awesome to have the Skrull as the villians on the movie
Norton played a great Banner. Way better then "look-at-me-brood" Eric Bana did in the last Hulk.
He played the emotions right. Somewhat paranoid, carrying a huge burden on his shoulders, etc.
Honestly I see him as Banner like I see RDJ as Stark. Perfect choice.
I could dig it, but if it's already been debunked I am sad panda...
Wait, that dude that was dating Betty was supposed to be Doc Samson? Man, never knew that. Of course, the movie doesn't bother to name him anyway, but still, can't see that dude becoming the big, buff as hell, green pony-tailed Doc Samson we all know.
Separate names with a comma.
