Never thought this happened here, figured it was only in the Northern areas of North America...we get "red" streams instead of the blues and greens seen in the north, but still amazing.
Local news folks says this happens every dozen years or so here, but I've never heard of or seen it before.
Just wanted to share something pretty. :)

This is the best capture so far.....

This one is not as clear or vibrant, but you can see the red waves of the a.b.

Awesome! As a fellow Tennessee guy, I was completely in the dark about this(no pun intended).

I was rather upset when I heard about this on the news. The couple of times I've been in places up North to Aurora watch it has been overcast or no luck, but supposedly last night it was bright and clear as could be and I was stuck in the basement...

Me sorries too Aaron....it was so bright red in some areas the news folks were saying that folks thought something was on fire.

You gotta get out of the basement dude!! :)

Nice shots! :D  Over here in the UK you have to go to the far north of Scotland to have any chance of seeing the northern lights, and even then it's quite a rare event.

    Around 8 p.m. on October 24th!

I would think you guys would have a better chance of seeing this more often than Tennessee, we are so far south I never dreamed it happened here at all.
So talk about rare events, to us, it truly is. :D

I know!!! It wasn't on the news until AFTER it happened...so many people thought the world was on fire at first. Glad it was something even better and unusual. :thumb

Thanks everybody for looking...it really was amazing to me.

I had a tree get roots into my sewer line backing up "water" into the basement that I was cleaning out. :(

:lol . I was about to say, "Isn't the Aurora Borealis moving south the tale tell sign of impending diasters in movies?".

Whoa, so sorry to hear about that, hopefully you got a little help from the roomies??
Tree roots get into all kinds of crazy places and cause problems, hope you get things dried out soon. :)

You gotta wonder, especially if they're RED!
