Kash, the dog in black....understands commands in four languages.. he's smart, courageous and a dedicated K9 officer. DAWWWWWWWWW!!! LaVergne K-9 Officer Retiring - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports In case you can't link the article.. LAVERGNE, Tenn.- After 47 years on the force, a veteran officer is leaving the LaVergne police department. 47 dog years, that is. Kash, a K-9, has given eight and a half human years of service. Mayor Senna Mosley and fellow officers honored him at a retirement ceremony Tuesday. Kash's partner his entire career, Detective Konrad Kaul, says Kash has a lot to be proud of. The K-9 has helped apprehend hundreds of criminals and is credited with several major drug busts. His largest bust was for three kilos of cocaine and the biggest marijuana find was seven pounds. More impressive facts about this four legged hero are that he's a native of the Czech Republic and understands commands in four languages. Officers say the most notable fact is that he has also never bitten a civilian. "Canine partners have to shout out warnings before releasing their dogs. Suspects would see Kash and give up. We had a 100% rate of compliance when criminals saw Kash," Kaul says. Kash will be spending his retirement on Kaul's farm where he will receive special training to herd goats in order to stay physically and mentally active. Staying active is imperative for retired police dogs and it helps extend their lifespan. Kash turns 10 on Christmas day, or 53 in human years. Dang!! We have the same birthday!! Kash!
