i'm a big fan of simplicity and always love the look of prototypes before paint apps and decals are applied. I think the primer-gray mock-ups they are doing nowadays are beautiful.

here are some g1 guys i stripped completely bare, got rid of stickers, chrome, and any paint apps so it's all just raw plastic, diecast, and metal. i used vintage figures that were sort of yellowed and rough, love that patina; i guess this is cool for anybody that likes naked bikes.

OP's clear fists are some "the jangar" recasts i got way back in the day as well as the navy blue bloated gun, i love my scrap bin. the diaclone drivers are first-gen repro type 2 diaclone men done by ken szemethy/transrepro, these were from the test sheets for project feasibility after I sent him one of these guys to be duplicated:

The only problem i have with this is I do own a G1 Prime proto that has none of the diecast painted. This actually looks better than the actual proto, because the metal hasn't oxidized yet. I also own unpainted Jazz, Sideswipe, Red Alert and Bluestreak reissues, luckily most of them have some random colored plastic (ex light blue) part on them that aren't in the final version

PS: you forgot Red Alert's face

When I was doing my "Kitty Truck" repaint I'd stripped the paint off of most of the figure. I liked the look of his metal feet that I incorporated it into the final paint scheme for my custom...

I have to say that I like the look of them all laid bare like this as well... There's something, simple about it?

Wow, pretty odd how some of them turn out.

I'd totally buy some of the Universe toys in "prototype grey".

I gotta admit, being able to actually See the die cast is just awesome....It really gives you an appreciation for what they put into toys back then...not a comment against modern toys by the way, just an amazement at the level of design that went into them back then.

Very awesome. Have you tried doing a seeker yet?

Wow... I'm amazed... no rants about "defacing" classic toys yet. :)

These are stunningly beautiful. There's something raw and primal about it... it's a subtle charm, but one that appeals to me tremendously. Thanks for sharing!

I've always liked seeing things like this in their basic form. Kinda like the more modern gray primer looking prototypes--these all let you see the actual detail in the molds instead of the basic colors that were applied originally. Very nice!

lol, yeah i was expecting lots of pissed off people too. i was going to finish up all the g1 cars and then move onto some key deceptions. awesome, its cool to know that my tastes aren't so weird and other people like these guys too.

CZ, post up some pictures of your stuff in uber-rare? those normal prototypes/customs from the factory use different colored plastics than the normal versions. hope you didn't get ripped.

DC, yeah these aren't real prototypes and i don't plan on re-selling these or anything so i think the validity of whats out there hasn't been compromised. the diecast i did clear coat with satin finish to protect it from oxidation and rust. man, i was thinking of getting some whiter rub-on "not for sale" or "prototype" decals for these guys later on.

these would be perfect to try using that higher percantage hydrogen peroxide on but i like them yellow, it makes them look old, lol.

I also doubt the authenticity of that Prime.

What a awesomely strange project though!

That is different man, and I love it. It's like "Body Worlds" for Transformers! What did you use to take the paint off that left the plastic so clean. I've stripped paint off of figures with acetone and toluene, but it always scars the plastic.

hey tom, yeah don't use acetone...it eats polyethylene + abs. super harsh solvent man.

i used something called "e-safe" which is some specially made product from a local hobby shop: "burbank house of hobbies".

i think an awesome equivalent would be CONCENTRATED castrol super clean degreaser...strips chrome super fast and safe on clear parts. google it up, all the hobbyists rave about it. there were rumors it was recalled because it caused respiratory problems but i still found it at my local wal mart

pine sol + simple green works pretty well for that cheap spray-on fake chrome finish, most of the other strippers won't do anything to those paints but dull them.
