I realize that Bumblebee is probably going to be a main character for a long time. And having him there may save them from needing too many voice actors.

So my suggestion is to have them put subtitles for what Bumblebee is saying. Even if the in universe characters misunderstand him, at least the audience won't.

That's a good and cheap way for poeple to relate to him.

Am I the only one with this opinion, or do others share this point of view? If Bumblebee is to stay as a main character and continue to be mute, then whenever he speaks there should be subtitles for the audience to read.

It works for foreign language shows, it should work Bumblebee's language.

I have my CC on when watching TFP sometimes... they do have 'subtitles'

It goes like this: Whirrrrs.. sad beeping, happy beeping, confused beeping, etc. :D

I kid..., but actually I can make out what he's 'saying' most of the time, even if Raf isn't anywhere around..or another bot asking and answering his question or comment. Guess that's what the TFP team is hoping, we'll figure it out and stop complaining.

I'm just hoping they'll give Bee a real voice one of these days...or wtheck, just let him talk thru the radio, movie style..beats 'whirr' 'buzz' 'beep'. It wouldn't be perfect but it would be better.

Bee's beeps are, most of the time, said in ways that can be heard in english. Most recent example is in 'Hurt', where Miko calls him out about listening to a certian type of music with Raf. He clearly says 'Whaaat?!' before going on about a bit that I can't remember. Gotta watch the ep again for that, but it's there.

I think subtitles would kind of ruin the idea of what they want to do with a mute bee. With the beeps, the audience can listento understand him (which is very possible and seems to be what the're doing now, vs. the movie, which hadactual raido dialogue), or you listen to how the OTHER characters respond to him, to get the joke/feel the sadness of the moment. With subtitles, it'd make things bland, sure 'easier to understand', but then where's the fun in that and the character? It's like if KENNY from South Park was fully understandable..it'd kill the character (ALL PUN INTENDED lol)

They should have just given him a real voice to begin with.

I second the OP. Bumblebee deserves sub titles.

Hey can you guess what i am saying:

    "Beep, bop, bop, beeb, whirrrrrrrrr"

That's the point, typing out Bee's words make it sound like he definitely needs a voice, but in show, with tones and different sounds, you can make out what he's saying. Bee being mute AND being able to portray himself, cause comic relief and make you able to see his emotion without words is what makes him. If you give him subtitles, then him being MUTE is pointless, and giving him a voice just makes him another character--especially when he's kid appeal.

I personally see his "muteness" as already pointless because he CAN SPEAK AND BE UNDERSTOOD. Bee isn't really mute, he just talks in another language, lol.

Not personally coming after you, it's just something that bugs me about the show.

Lol, yeah that's true, he's not just sitting in a corner quiet, he's communicating/talking, but you get what I mean.

A lot of people hate him not having a voice of his own, but I think that's what sets him apart and makes him more of a kid friendly character and gives him a history. If you throw subtitles in there, he loses all of the interactibility(word?) that he ever had and just becomes a more generic character

If he can't have a real voice, the game of "filling in the blanks" is more fun than having it spelled out. If they're going to tell us exactly what he said, they might as well just give him a voice, as the beeping would lose what little charm it has.

I was wondering if I was the only one that caught that! I've had the opinion that Bee's vocal issue were psychological since 'Out of His Head', when Megatron spoke in Bee's body.

Oh sure, just show the kiddies just how much BB actually swears.

his voice is actually fine but he's developed the Cybertronian equivalent of Tourette Syndrome.
