After stating to her that I wasn't interested in the City Commander set because of its price, I went ahead and ordered one from TFSource.

She might yell at me, but here is the conversation I had with myself:

    "It's expensive."

    "I know."

"But there's only a limited number of them."

    "I know."

"Big Bad and Digital Toys are both sold out already."

    "But TFSource isn't."

    "Sara's going to be mad."

"Tell her you can sell it on ebay if it's that big of a deal."

    "Hmmm...and make a profit?"

    "Exactly."

    "Kevin, you're so smart."

    "I know. You're welcome, Kevin."

    End of story.

So.....If my wife attempts to murder me, there may be a new City Commander set on ebay soon. I'll let you know.

I would love to have my wife try and yell at me because of things I buy. Needless to say it wouldn't happen. She knows better. She gets lots of clothes and I get Transformers.

That was the other justification I gave myself. Earlier today she bought a few new board games from ThoughtHammer.com...and these aren't your run-of-the-mill Monopoly and Sorry for $25 a piece. They're expensive, European board games, averaging $50 a piece.

The problem with that reasoning is that means instead of having spent $100 in a day, now we've spent closer to $200. Not entirely logical...

But dammit, love is illogical...and I love that City Commander set!!

If I were her, I'd be angry because you lied about not buying it, not that you bought it.

why is it some people have issues spending 80 bucks on a great toy like this? Have you seen how much vintage loose G1s cost? WAY more that that. like the combiners. G1 UM is like 60 parts complete. anyway get a backbone and make some extra money haha. Nice choice. you will not regret it.

Some of us just do not have the money plain and simple. And another thing is that any way you look at it, it is still a toy and most likely for collectors just a display piece that will just stand there. So you are spending $80 to just put a piece of plastic on a shelf and not have anything else to do with it. Think about how his wife might see it. Transformers have no meaning to her. More than likely they are just toys or pieces of plastic that cost way too much money to her when she's more worried about a mortgage and other things. I mean think about it. To other people Transformers are just little kids toys that you can't do anything resourceful with. How could they condone spending near 100 bucks on one? Especially when you get abslolutely NO practical use out of your purchase?

I'm just saying. If you've got the money to burn then it's great. But with the economy like it is, there are more important things than luxories like transforming toys, especially to a person who doesn't get what it's all about and who doesn't have any sentimental interest in them like we do.

If it cost less than it might not be as big of an issue.

Me and the wife budget out our money. We each have "fun money" allowances per month to do what we want with. If we need to go over that, we consult each other. Pretty simple.

It was easier for decission for me. It was a dream come true to get armor for Classics Ultra Magnus that's just a white Prime repaint without it. Hope your wife doesn't get too angry as it's a really nice TF figure.

Hope the wife lets you keep it, it's really awesome. I bought two more from TFSource, one to have in alt. mode and one to have MISB... this is the first time I've liked a toy enough to do that. My wife and I have allowances so if one of us goes off and buys something the other can't disapprove. Though, my wife is very supportive of my toy hobby, so I don't think she'd complain even if everything came from our joint account.

She's cool with it, after all...as some have said, it was mostly an issue of me buying it without saying something to her about it first...she always lets me know what purchases she's planning, and I do the same for her.

Today's instance was just a situation where I got freaked out given the limited nature of the set. Kind of a fanboy panic attack. Yes, I know it's a pretty lame thing to get worked up over.

One thing I never do is lie about buying Transformers. When that starts to happen, it may as well be alcohol, drugs, pornography, or gambling...once you start lying about something, it's an addiction.

Of course, getting the City Commander set may mean I have to wait a little bit longer on the Blu-ray player/PS3...but those aren't nearly as rare, so I'm cool with it.

Well women like to hide the fact that they will get mad about it until after you say "I do" and then it's out the window and they bitch about every little thing you buy, do, or even say.
