I felt that this was needed especially after what I have been going through today. Basically the transmission, or something else completely is gone out in my car and now I am pretty screwed. I always kept really good care of my car too. It's old so I had to maintain it well, which I did.

It is just ****ing frustrating to put up with this shit UGH

Anyone else here want to rant about their POS vehicle? I am sure there are at least a few.

During college I bought a Bronco for $4500. Had it for 5 years and spent over $6000 fixing things on it. This is what I remember having fixed on it:
    Transmission
    cracked heads
    head gaskets
    struts
    gas pump
    A/C
    bushings and shocks
    tie rods
    gear box
    window motor twice
    u-joints
    drive shaft (girlfriend bent it)

there's other things but these are off the top of my head.

My mom has a Chevy Venture. Heat doesn't work, it's been in the shop numerous times for cooling system issues, and... Damn thing's just a big piece of shit.

My car's been pretty good since I bought it in November. Sounds like I might need new brakes, but that's fairly minor compared to everything that's been done to the Venture.

its purplish colored with horrible paint
it leaks severely when it rains and retains water severly too
it burns oil like a mutha fragger
I spent 300 bucks on a stereo system for it and it barely works anymore
    cracked windshield
    no antenna
no AC but i can deal with this
    no gas gauge
speedometer only works when it wants to

american cars are POS...why do you think the big 3 are f*cked? buy a honda..as long as you change the oil, it'll last you at least 7 years with no problems.

    Ahem...

Another person who has never driven a recent American vehicle... I guess old stigmas die hard.

If a Honda will only last you 7 years, then you're in trouble :)

My first car was more of a nuisance than anything else. The family nicknamed it "Shake, Rattle and Roll" because it was one of the first sedans to run on diesel. So, driving it was no fun due to how it ran (semi-automatic) and not much pickup. Starting it was a kill-joy especially when it is cold outside. The German-made car has been in my family since 1981. In the 1980s, the fuel tank developed a fungus that would eat the diesel. Since the mid-1990s, the radio rarely worked, the A/C stopped working in the summer and people that live in Texas knows how that would feel. The gas gauge would flicker back and worth so it was always tough to know how much fuel was the tank.

I actually have driven an american vehicle...i bought my parents a buick 3 years ago. talk about a piece of shit..it was falling apart after a year. Plus i've owned a 1990 mustang for about a year. that was a POS too, had to sell that after a year because of all the problems it had.

Hondas will last more than 7 years...I was being conservative. Just depends on how you take care of it. i've owned 2 civics, both lasted 10 years before I sold them. only major problem i had was a distributor going out and that's probably because of all the aftermarket stuff I had put in plus I was hard on the engine.

I've been driving a subaru WRX for 6 years...thing's a tank. no problems whatsoever..

I drive a Scion. Great car.

My first car was a 95/96 Pontiac Sunfire. Had it for about 4 years and it was falling apart by then. It was utter crap! My traded it in towards his new car and I got his old Lexus. It was about the same age as mine and I drove it till Nov 07 and never had any real problems with it. I traded it in towards my xB. I will NEVER buy an American car ever. I want something that will last.

Only American made cars I'd buy are Toyta/Honda/Hundai/etc brand that are made in US factories.

I read a story about a guy who worked for a map company and drove a honda accord and put over 1 million miles on it and other than oil changes he only change the belts and the muffler twice! I am a firm believer in Honda! All of my cars but one were Honda, and never had anything more than routine maintenance done! I know people who own and swear by american cars yet have nothing but horror stories. I will never buy american! A lot of american cars arent even made in america anymore!

Now's the time when someone in the business tells you you can actually save around 25% getting last year's model that was used as a demo... Usually has under 10k miles, comes with all factory warranties, and is almost always just like it was new.
