I've been thinking for a while and I've also come up with two other director picks for a Transformers reboot alongside my previous choices, Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow and The Fast and the Furious 3,4, & 5) and McG (Charlies Angels 1 & 2 and Terminator Salvation): Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, xXx, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) and Jaume Collet-Serra (House of Wax, Orphan, Unknown, director on G.I. Joe: Retalliation director shortlist, and the forthcoming american live-action Akira remake). P.S. Autobot Burnout, PLEASE don't leave a reply if you're going to rant on about how I don't give my reasons as to why these would be good director choices, I want to hear other people's thoughts.

Sure, this is the last one I'm doing. If I ever come up with any more suggestions, I'll just revive previous threads from other people regarding reboot directors.

Thank you. There are some neat ideas but too many threads.

I've said it once, and I will say it again: Gore Verbinsky or GTFO.

That's fine, but what do you think about my suggestions? I'm open to criticism so it's fine if you say that they're horrible.

I was never into the Pirates of the Caribbean films so I can't say anything about Verbinsky, but who the heck is GTFO?

I'm not too familiar with the directors to be honest. I agree with Overlord Balder. And GTFO is an abbreviation for Get The Fuck Out.

That's fine. I wasn't too familiar with Cohen until I researched the Fast and Furious films after watching the fifth film on DVD and I didn't know much of Collet-Serra until I found out he was on the shortlist of directors for G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

What proof do you have to support that comment? It hasn't yet gone into pre-production and not much has been said about the project aside from Brian Goldner, Don Murphy, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura saying that it will happen, despite the fact that a script hasn't been written at all within the last couple of months.

Seriously bro, just make one director thread and update it as you think of it. There's no sense in making a new thread on such a similar topic every time a thought pops into your head.

I could see Cohen getting a crack at the Franchise, not that I'd look forward to it.

I still say I'd love to see Brad Bird take a shot at it.

    Or Paul Greengrass...

Have some Jason Bourne-like-fighting giant robots with amnesia and everything?

Finally! A reply from you that doesn't involve you telling me information that I ALREADY KNOW!

You know what? Let's go completely out of left field here: Hideaki Anno

Dude has extensive experience directing animated robots, and has both elevated the genre of "robots blowing the fuck out of everything" to it's peak AND turned it completely on its head. The guy's brilliant as hell and has a huge knowledge of sci-fi, as well as psychology and mysticism, to draw upon.

He's never done live action though, and there might also be a language barrier.

edit: I'm wrong, he HAS done live action films! Quite a few, and they've been well received, albeit not hollywood blockbusters.

Curious. What films has he done? And just throwing this out there, I saw someone suggest Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk and Clash of the Titans) as well.
