About a week and a half from now, I'm moving back to Butler PA. About 20 min north of Pittsburgh. Tomorrow morning, I have an interview with the cable company for tech support for their internet service. I've been wanting to get in there for a few years now, and I finally got an interview. I've been trying to find a job working with computers for some time now. Finally, I might have a chance. The job is only part time but its at least 30 hours a week at $10 an hour. Plus free internet. So everybody send some luck my way, I'm probably gonna need it.

Good luck. You'll probably need more luck in dealing with the customers than you'll need with the interview though. I've done that job. Very demanding.

Ah, then this won't be much of a career change for you. Just imagine explaining computer and Internet issues to the slowest, densest, and most irritable people you've worked with. You're in for a lot of fun! ;)

I think the interview went pretty good. They already sent me for a drug test. I don't think they would have done that unless they were interested in hiring me. But I could just be jinxing myself.

That's definitely a good sign. I hope it works out.

Good news - hopefully it means better hours for you.

The hardest thing I ever had to do wasn't helping a stupid customer.

He was blind. He insisted on using an ancient version of Eudora, and had messed up his password settings and his POP3 server information. That particular version had the password settings squirreled away someplace that didn't make sense. It was moved to a more logical place in later versions, and I couldn't find a copy of the old version to mess with for myself. So... we spent two days of tech support sessions going through every possible menu, with neither of us being able to see the screen. He did finally manage to get his email. I was so glad to be done with it I wanted to throw a party.

Funny, I have to get internet cable next week when I go back home. I hope the install goes smoothly while I sit on the couch.
