I had this thought in my head earlier today about what the Botcon 2012 figures might be molded from.

This is just my guess, but I'm thinking that we'll either see Special Ops Jazz, Warpath, or Windchargers molds among the selection.

That's all. Just sharing my thoughts.

As a set? I have no idea. I just thinking that one of those three will show up.

They've grouped stranger molds together. However, can TFCC touch those molds if they're still in circulation? I seem to recall a conflict of that nature.

By the time BotCon 2012 rolls around, I would be surprised if they're all still in circulation.

I could see them getting Laser Prime and Wreck-Gar retools easily. Laser Prime into Ultra Magnus with his own head. I wonder if Hasbro will ever let the club "debut" a new mold, even if it isn't the as the character Hasbro intends it to become. I think that will happen sooner than later.

Well they can clearly use the wheeljack mold as the are doing runamuck and runabout with that one, so Id assume any wavemate of that is fair game.

Keep in mind that Japanese releases of Warpath and Windcharger could be on the market at that time.

How much does that factor in, since that's Takara releasing them, not Hasbro?

Well with wheeljack as runabout/runamuck, drift as SG drift(knockout) and the troop builder set likely to be junkions it's fairly reasonable to assume botcon 2012 has the generations/RTS molds available and hopefully we see a "classics" year.

I'd personally be keen for a diaclone(with the ehobby names) pack or a set of classics versions of the Japanese g1 exclusives but with stepper and black shadow on the way already that idea has lost alot of it's punch.

Actually....... My dream set would be turbomasters/predators but that's not gonna happen.

I think it would be pretty awesome if they did a LSOTW Aftermath type of set. They could make an Earth mode Impactor using a remolded Warpath and a Jazz repaint could be a new Wrecker, with Windcharger being Runabout and Runamuck (With a remold), although I don't see the last two happening due to TFCC exclusives this year.

I've hoped one year they would do movie figures.

Unless they use ones that aren't in licensed vehicle modes, that's never happening. I believe they straight-up stated as much.

Japanese G1 themed Botcon using Classics figures would be awesome :)  The aesthetics are very similar. With all the molds available, they could easily do Headmasters and Victory. Masterforce would be kind of hard given the core character is a Prime.

After Pete's recent hint, my money's still on a Diaclone set. The only problem is, the molds all line up so well, there wouldn't be many surprises if the secret got out. I mean, for example, if we were to find out Roadhauler was in the set, he'll obviously be redecoed from RTS Grappel. Magnificus=RTS Perceptor, etc. FunPub likes to surprise us.

What recent hint? It'd be interesting what sort of backstory they'd give Diaclone if it does push through. Can they even mention Diaclone as a trademark?

Btw, when are they expected to announce the Botcon themes anyway?

Around July 26, Pete (or whoever does FunPub's Twitter posts) said:

Which was then followed up shortly thereafter with:

A ball which I (and perhaps others) immediately took and ran with, imagining that it was a similar "read between the lines" clue of the sort they occasionally drop. "Heavy," I have assumed, is a reference to the die-cast of the original Diaclone toys.

As for when we'll get an official announcement, well, they've waited this long. I don't expect to hear anything definitive relating to Botcon 2012 until December at the earliest.
