I believe she was never fired. She dies in the movie, and to not make it a spoiler they invented the whole thing about her being fired. Because when the trailers and behind the scene footages are shown there won't be any Megan and people are going to ask where is she. So for that to not happen, they all agreed to do this.

 

For that matter, they could just kill her off in the beginning (decepticons blow up her house or something), to cover up for megan leaving the film.
