This past weekend I screened the original animated movie with my 3-year-old boy and he LOVED it. Now whenever we watch it, I quiz him on all the different characters' names. In addition, I downloaded the soundtrack and now that's all he wants to listen to in the car, which my wife is none too happy about (she hates 80's hair band rock). His favorite track is "The Rodimus Prime song" (aka, "The Touch"), however, he also likes "The Unicron song" (aka, the Transformers movie opening by Lion) and "The Hot Rod song" (aka, "Dare").

This proud G1 papa just had to share with y'all.

That's really really nice. My favorite movie absolutely, film buffs might talk down to me about that choice but the movie is worth seeing over and over, its a escape and has a magical quality when its bundled with that soundtrack.

So I trust his interest is peaked for universe galvatron?

My little girl's the same way- she was quite excited when we picked up the first issue of the TF:A comic, but I still try to pre-screen episodes for her. No Blackarachnia torture for my little girl.

My son loved it as well. We been seen it so much I had to rebuy it due to scratchs.
Its one of his fav's beside the Star Wars prequals.
I had to get him a Masterpeice Prime after he seen the movie and he carried it with him everywhere. Aa 3 year old with a Masterpeice Prime walking around the house. My wife went crazy when ever he dropped it:)

That's awesome j.a.f.o.! I watched Animated with my two older boys Lukas (3) and Elias (22 months) and they enjoyed it very much. I'll ocassionally throw on a G1 episode and they'll enjoy it as well. Lukas is already becoming an avid little fan of Optimus Prime... that's my litle butt-head! :D

My older son used to watch it 3 times every weekend when he was about 6. He hasn't watched it last couple of years, but when Ratchet was talking about "The Great War" in TFA, he jokingly said, "But you died!" :lol

I, on the other hand, still don't know much about G1 characters.

That is awesome! I hope my little guy loves it as much your little guy does. He is a little young yet but maybe in a few years. I bet your sons favorite character is Hotrod.

    That's really cool! :)

My brother has made watching TF:TM a montly ritual for himself and his three year old son. Maybe his daughter, too, when she gets old enough.

    Excellent. :lol

I also shared my G1 collections, some BW episodes, and all the latest TFA episodes for my nephews. They loved 'em. The drawback is... They got some of my figs.. :lol

Odd...I've had the exact opposite effect whenever I've shown kids the 86 movie. They lose interest. They do seem to like the G1 cartoon though.

That is sweet man. When the first live action came out, I bought the '86 movie for nostalgia sake and watched it with my four year old daughter. She immediatly became as obsessed as I am, since then we have been renting the G1 series and I am just waiting for the right time to buy it. I also do the same with drilling her on the names while we watch it, although she's got them down by now. Of course this led me to buy the 150+ collection I have now. I am totally reliving my youth through her.

that is most excellent! what a cool dad you are!
My bro(14) and I(25) love watching it. between him and I the movie has been watched around 50 times since I was a kid.(first saw it in theaters when I was 3 :)  )
watching that movie as well as the 2007 version has gotten my bro on a serious transformer kick. He's watched all of animated and some of G1 so far. And he;s loving every bit of it. Even the QUALITY part throughout G1.
good to see another fan brought into the world of TF :)
