So I got RotF Megs from TRU for $15. So far I would not recommend him to anyone for the same price. I am finding it impossible to peg his left leg into his left shoulder, as called for in his transformation. The two slots are different, with the one on the left deeper. However, the pegs are similarly different, so it's not that they just gave him two of the same peg by mistake. However, the left peg does not have a secure slot. The left slot is very shallow and doesn't match any features of the left peg. As a result, their connection is so poor that the tension in the hip joint sends it flying back out again. Did I get a dud, or am I doing something wrong?
Did you rotate his waist up? His entire waist/pelvis assembly swings up 90 degrees relative to the torso. It's not simply adjusting his hip joints. That's usually the biggest cause of this problem. Otherwise, the left leg peg simply isn't a deep as the right one, so it doesn't connect as securely. But the connection should still be decent.
Yea, fiddle with his hips a bit, when you hear the transforming sound, you are on the right track. Once the hips are in the correct spot, it should peg in a lot easier.
Yep, what they said. I had this issue the first couple times, but I rotated the hips, heard that sound, and went "Ohhhhhhh"
Hey, thanks guys! That was not even close to being on the instructions... Ok, he transforms, I'll give him that. But he's still a $15 toy.
I agree, he isn't near as cool as OP and miles away from Starscream. I REALLY hope Hasbro gives us some good new leaders with movie 3. A new Prime with a slightly less fiddley transformation and more gimicks (guns, Matrix, facemask). A new Megatron with a more movie accurate look (and more gimicks). And some sort of third guy, maybe Shockwave or something.
Glad it worked out, and yea, he is not a very good toy. It is nice to have Leader Starscream now so I can hide Megs gimp arm behind something. The sad thing is that they will probably finally get it right for TF3, but we are stuck with two crappy incarnations when they could have used the space to give us a different leader class character instead of continuing to try to get Megs right.
^ I'll give you that, it's certainly imposing. If the head was a little higher off the shoulders and the arms were...totally different, it would be fine.
