So, I turn it on today and...nothing. The green lights on, but there's no sound and nothing on the tv screen. On the back something that says digital out optical is glowing red. I have no idea if it always does this, or if it means something's wrong...

I know it sounds silly, but have you checked all the connections into the TV and that the channel is set up right?

Yeah, I've checked everything about twice now. Still nothing.

I take it you've turned it off both ways?(back and touch)

Can you insert a disk or eject it?

    HDMI or A/V?

Yeah, I've turned it off both ways.

I can insert a disk, but nothing happens.

It's A/V right now. I had it plugged into an HDMI one last weekend, though. I'm not sure if that's causing the problem or not, since I haven't turned it on since then.

Try turning it on while holding the power button on the front for like 4-10secs this should cause your ps3 to reset it's video and sound settings

Yup. Happens to my PS3 from time to time. Wait until you hear the second beep and then let go. If that does not work, unplug your video connection from the PS3 and turn the system off. Leave it unplugged and then turn the system back on. After about 10 seconds, turn the system off and plug the video connections back in and turn the system on. That should initiate the video reset.

At the risk of being redundant, that does sound like the issue. Especially if you used it on standard A/V jacks, then switched to HDMI.

And the red glow from the audio jack is normal :)

    Thanks! It worked!

Hmm, I guess I'll have to be more careful about that, then.

Another thing to take note of, when using HDMI, you can have another issue that will do the same thing. My PS3 and Tv don't want to play nice. I think it's called handshaking or something to that effect. The HDMI doesn't want to communicate right. I finally just changed to the component cables because I got tired of messing with it. Glad you got it working.
