Picked up my Bandai's SOC Ideon and as usal, I decided to post pictures of this bad boy for fans of the Chogokin series...my impression of the toy? 9/10...I deducted 1 point because of the "almost" prefect tranformation.

My first impression of the toy was its weight and when I finally had the opportunity to opened him up, most of the die-cast contents is in its legs.

The Ideon was created by the very same creator of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Anyway, the Ideon's legacy in Mecha history is that it is considered the most powerful and one of the largest of all the "super robots" and the series had a tragic ending...however, I'm sure interested fans can find more info. on the web! So without further ado...here's IDEON!

The Ideon comprises of 3 vehicles that have 2 modes each. An observation made is that the vechicles were probably an after thought after the robot's designs as its pretty obvious which mode forms what part of the Ideon's body! :D

I love how Ideon looks. Just not a fan of the colorscheme. A little too much red. LigerPrime, I didn't know the there were two vehicle modes? I had previously only saw the ones that look like, well, robot parts.
Oh yeah, how long are the swords? I didn't think they were actually included.

Too bad I'm too broke to actually buy any of the SOC I actually want :(

The Ideon is so powerful it actually makes me a little nauseous to think about it. It is malevolently powerful. It does make a pretty good-lookin' SoC though.

What show is Ideon from? The same as Xabungle and Walker Gallia? The head design is similar...

It looks fabulous btw, that's what I should be saving for (and I have yet to obtain Gunbuster... ouch).

So, why isn't it a perfect transform figure?

Ideon is from Space Runaway Ideon (also known as Legendary Giant God Ideon). It's not a perfect transform because the tank that forms the arms doesn't work the same. The vented sections at the rear where the fists emerge from mount much lower on the animation model, about half of the vent is behind the rear of the vehicle which isn't physically possible with this.

Looks like there might be some slight part swapping too.

Walker Gallia and Xabungle are both from the series Xabungle, which is completely unrelated, except that they are both 70's mecha shows and have both had episodes subtitled by the same group.

Golden Age - here is the link on my MP-05 Megatron

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=127892

Sluglinger2004 - I will post more pictures showing the length of the swords

Chaos Convoy - I don't have GGGG and Gunbuster and my Dan Cougar is in storage but I have been told that the Ideon is the tallest SOC.

Sol Fury - yeah good point on the Ideon's transformation...below are my additional comments:

    i) the weapons of the Ideon are so heavy that they require a stands (included by Bandai).

ii) Elbow's are not not designed to be er, bend 90 degrees

iii) the hips and legs are a little too heavy for my liking.

iv) those who have him, please handle him carefully

The only other comment I can add - he's currently my fave SOC! :D

Ahh, the swords aren't anime-accurate. Although I suppose that would require that they be long enough at least to cut through a friggin' planet, so it's no big loss. :D

That is a very nice colossal engine of despair you have, Liger.

Do you have to swap parts and stuff to transform it?

LOL! That's a pretty good joke Phy! I was actually stunned for a moment! :D

megatroptimus - almost...you have to add the "air-vents to "cover" the inside of the Ideon's both shoulders and only the fists that can "open and close" can fit "inside" the Ideon and there's a "slight" gap with regards to the left forearm that stores the left fist.
