    Dude...I'm so sorry.

Atleast they're OK, and your dad seems to have a positive outlook on it.

That really sucks, though at least you dad got out OK. That is all that really matters, property can be replaced, people can not

My house went on fire, when I was 13. The whole house a 3 story house and the basement destroyed. We were all sleeping and my brothers who lived on the top floors weren't home they went to the movies. The fire started on the first floor where me and my parents were sleeping seeped up the wall to the third floor and the roof was ablaze while we were sleeping. My mom woke up to the sound of pieces of roof hitting her window. She woke me up and told me to grab the pets and I grabbed my dog and cat and ran. I remember going for my shoes and the sparks coming out of the light fixture(where it all started we found out later) and going "ok nevermind shoes" and I ran out the door. I saved the pets :D  Actually part of the first floor was still left afterwards, my room and my parents room. The next day my parents went back in to get what belongings they could salvage and my mom even saved my goldfish.

But glad everyone got out ok in your case too! Things will turn out alright, in my case we got an even better house after that haha.

    Thanks guys,

all the old photos and tax information was ok, my dad kept it all in a metal filing cabinet and the stuff is just smokey, and like everyone has said, things like a tv and couch can be replaced.

Good to hear that all of your family's safe and healthy.

And that's why every room in the house has a smoke detector.
