    Her name is Roadmaster

It belongs to my Grandfather but he said that I can restore one of these days since he doesn't have the time.

after school I plan to once I get my own place with a Garage.

1953 Buick Roadmaster sedan possibly 322 V8 and a Dynaflow automatic transmission

BTW is there anywhere I can get those Gm styled Autobot emblems

    Update

After talking with my Grandfather it doesn't have the 322 Yay it has an old Straight 8 Cylinder I've never seen one Before so this will be a great build.

That my friend looks like a cool project...ever since I seen the episode of "American Pickers" where they purchased the old black car I've wanted to do the same and put a monster of a motor in one with dark tinted windows...and I'm not really a car guy either... :D

    Good luck...keep us posted... :popcorn

Research. Research. Research. I've done partial restoration on my dad's 1976 Mercedes Benz 280. Go over the car with a fine tooth comb, once you get it out of the garage. Go to the library and take out repair manuals on that car. Make sure to inspect the frame for any major cracks.

    Awesome. I approve.

Just don't do a 'pimp my ride' style restoration. That's a classy car.

I asked my Grandfather about the engine he says it has the Straight 8 of the 1951-2 models so this was probably the last of the 52's sold as a 53 Model.

The only thing I'll probably do is a new paint job and a steel cage around the seats for safety.

getting ready to start a resto/mod on a71 camaro

research is key, know as much as you can about that particular car and year.
check places where water would collect on it and make sure there is no rust on the outer panels as well. if it has interior take it out and have a look see at the floor pans and inner rough and trunk deck.

go over her with a fine tooth comb and get ready to spend some money depending on how you do it. cars are a money pit but i love the hobby, there so much you can do and be creative and unique with especially on the older cars like those

I took my Monte Carlo down to the last nut and bolt. Get yourself one of these if they have one in your model:

These are the exact diagrams they used in the factory when putting these cars together. A real lifesaver in my restoration project.

    congrats on the project car.
i had a chance at glory back in high school until my grandfather killed the dream.
we found a car like this, except it was a 4-door sedan in Hunter green:

camel hair interior (no tears, cuts or damage) the exterior paint needed work (just to bring it back to life) but my grandfather balked when the old man selling it wouldn't give a price, just said, "what you think it's worth?"

i cried for days, and am still sad about not getting that Pontiac Chieftain.

Looking for a shop Manual I just Emailed General motors if I can order one from a Dealer.

So far I'm going to keep it as original as possible and i'm going to have it repainted Metallic Black instead of it's flat Black.

Over the next few summer and winter breaks till I get it moved I'm going to check it out and buy parts for it.

My Grandfather said he didn't engage the e-brake when he parked it there since it didn't work so It should be pushable onto a flat-bed.

I remember my first build project, 1970 Chevelle SS clone, wrapped it around a pole my senior year. The longest build was my 83 CJ 7, rebuilt 4.0, rebuilt 4 spd, 4in lift, all new panels and interior. I wish I would have kept my other projects, 1966 Coronet 440, 318 wide block, 69 Charger SE, numbers matching 383, 79 CJ 7 , original 304 AMC, 4spd. I miss doing all that stuff, kids and work take up all my time anymore. My next project is my dads 51 5 window Chevy shortbox. Hes had that before I was born, I want to get it going and work on it with my boy.

Is it safe to throw a bug bomb in there...since I' going to have to tear the interior out and have it cleaned anyway

Never tried it, if youre gutting it, then I really dont see what it would hurt. Is there that many creatures living in it?

I don't know I saw a Wasp fly into the Garage window but the vehicle's been there for over 20-30 years now so I'm pretty sure something is living in there.

Well, then Id just start unbolting stuff and see how it is first. If its wasps and hornets, then just spray their nest if you can find it. If its been in a garage then I wouldnt worry about too much. If it was sitting in the trees that long then I might be more hesitant. Out at my parents farm it was always the mice and spiders. I HATE SPIDERS!!!!!!!! I mean I really hate them, my wife thinks its funny. HA HA. Anyway I wouldnt worry about anything.
