Wow has this guy been a royal pain in the @$$. I recommend not mixing Tamiya and Warhammer paints, not buy laserjet priting decals when you have a bubble jet printer and don't decide to paint a stripe on a model unless you really, Really want to. The decals were a new adventure and they turned out alright but not to the standard I was hoping for. Well, without further ado, I bring you......

Ratchet Pt 1 - Vehicle mode:
I personally hated the heart moniter on the side and thought it had to go:
The Rear was the trickiest part because it wasn't sculpted with the H2 in mind, some aspects of the actual car had to go:

So this is mine next to the original:
And mine next to the actual H2:

    ehko.

Posts of robot mode later today!

I agree, the standard colour is much more accurate. But the details and decals are amazing!

Yeah, it looks awesome, but how's it "movie accurate" when you change the color, and get rid of the heart monitor line?

    Thats the whole TT twist!

Bot mode is a bit more "acurate" than the alt mode because there are a lot of things in the alt mode that look lousy in bot mode and vice versa.
As for the colour, I made a choice to go for a better green (in my opinion). Rather than hunt for or mix the pale, pea green that Ratchet is, I chose scorpion green warhammer panit on a recommendation to use WH paint (btw if you have a tamiya collection already than don't use WH paint, Tam. wont stick to WH). After a black base coat (see Nemesis Ratchet) the green came out darker than I had at first thought.
I also did a lot of research on actual search and rescue vehicles in the US and found lots of different shades of green and stripes of all colours.

The Blip is gone for two reasons. 1, I never liked it and 2, it would be really hard to paint and a decal or sticker wouldn't have looked right. If I was going to repaint Ratchet then I would have to say goodbye to the blip.

    Sorry to mislead you.

    ehko.

While we all agree the green is not movie accurate, IMO the scorpion green looks better. Can't wait to see what you did to the bot mode.
And just because it's a wierd little nit-pick of mine, kudos on painting the squares on the hood by the windshield black. You're only the second person I have seen to catch that when trying to match details to the movie stills.

I like the green and decals but how you consider it movie accurate is beyond me. That's like painting Bumblee gold and saying it's movie accurate. it's really not. Realistic paint job may be better suited.

Your Ratchet does look better than the movie version.

But it was poor choice of words to say it's "movie accurate".

i like it, however the real ratchet's green wasn't close on even the hasbro's plastic or paint. I think even the toy was too green.

I like the green color actually, and your lines are really clean. You did a great job with the red and white. The paint job for the green does look a bit thick and uneven. Did you have a hard time getting it to take?

Kick-ass job filling and hiding the screw holes. I think your coverage turned out better than Jin's. I think it might be due to the darker color, which I think is fantastic. To hell with Mountain Dew green. I like the Scorpion green you chose.

I had a really hard time with the green. I was given advice to use warhammer to brush with because it's thicker than the Tamiya I'm used to. Little did i know that it doens't take to it's own primer and Tamiya doesn't take to it. Awe well, a bit of sloppy green but I'm happy with the final result.

you should try enamels next time you cover an entire peice. usually 1 coat over primer of a similar shade.
