If my life could not get any worse. I lost my home , my car , my grandfather is in ICU , and now my Mother is a missing person. She has not been seen or heard from in 2 days. Her husband is very worried and so is my family. I have called every hospital in 4 counties and still nothing. She has 2 cell phones which have been off now 2 days and go straight to voicemail. We are very worrried and wondering what steps we can take outside of making a Missing Persons report. We have checked her phone records , bank accounts and credit cards and nothing has showed up.

Pray for her safe return please.

You've already done the obvious, so I'd definitely get the police involved at this pont. I mean if nothing else, they're much better equipped than you are, 2 days (48 hours?) should be plenty of time, and you really don't need to feel like doing so means that you're giving up.

It just means that you're getting the most capable & experienced people for the sake of finding her as soon as possible.

... or maybe we just needed to pray extra hard to Primus? :)

Good news is good. Also if you don't mind my asking, what happened? Trip down to Wonderland?

She was having a hard time dealing with losing our home and other problems like my Grandfather in ICU. She just went somewhere to get away from everything. I just wish she had told us what she was doing or sent a text or something.

Sometimes people need space and go about it the wrong way, I've done this many times. I'm happy to hear the good news and I hope whatever your family is going through, you guys can find the emotional clarity that you guys need.

My aunt did the same thing last year. The police found her in her car a mile from Rock Hill in the woods. She was found within 36 hours. Glad to hear she was found, dude.

I understand that she/you are going through some awful stuff right now...but did she think about what you guys would be going through when she just left? You have all of that stuff PLUS not knowing where your mom is...or whether she's even alive...That seems really selfish to me...

Exactly. A mind is fragile, no matter what the "experts" say. You can be going along, doing just fine, living life as you always have, and all it takes is one thing to derail that train.

And when it finally happens, you're unprepared and sometimes you just break from reality and walk away, either literally or figuratively. Sometimes it's temporary, sometimes it turns into a nervous breakdown.

Her taking these two days does seem selfish, but it was her mind and body's way of telling her "Okay, you need to relieve the pressure, NOW." And she had to do it.

After everything she's been through, I can't blame her for "losing her shit" and taking a break. I realize other family members stuck through it, but we don't know what other problems have been rattling around in her mind prior to this.
