well not exactly. what it does is it automatically shutdown on its own.

i chkd for related virus but couldnt find on carrying this symptom. and ive switched off the features that automate auto shutdown in the power management option.

anybody got a clue/recommendations? is my laptop running too hot?

It can be running too hot, have you even taken it apart and cleaned the heatsinks? Also check your event viewer for any errors.

does it just do this randomly? or just when you have programs opened?

I had a problem recently where my computer would shut down whenever I was playing a game. Turns out it was something with my ram (running too hot maybe?) So I went into the bios, clocked it a little bit lower, and problem solved.

You could download a temp monitor from the internet if you believe its a heat issue.....check up on your cpu to see if its exceeding the temp reccomedations.

I believe on most laptops you can have the laptop plugged in to wall, with battery out, and it will still work. (if it may the battery im sayin')

Other that that, does it just crash or do you get a screen?

Does it crash after multitasking some programs?
or heavy load type of thing....

Did you recently upgrade any hardware on it?

it basically switches off on its own, as in programs start closing on their own.

Hmmm... Unsure what it could be, but I say definitely check it out. Last time my laptop did that, it died. :(

My laptop that would randomly shut down, too. Before Windows even. Before I sent it in to the warranty company it was completely DEAD. They sent it back damaged. I sent it in again, and when they sent it back the last time the SAME problem came back. Lucky me, it is going in again.

Sounds like your problem could be an overheating issue. Mine is likely a motherboard issue. I'm having to bum my Dad's laptop for now.

If the computer is going through the shutdown process and it's not a virus, it's almost certainly overheating.

Do you have Windows Update Installing Automatically. This will also shutdown your computer automatically without asking you. Check what time it is set to run and update.

If that ain't it, it could either be a bad power supply, so goes to battery and runs out on power and shuts down. Easy way to test this is to remove battery and try using your computer and see what happens.

Could be overheating, but from my experience the system will shutdown immediately, without a proper notification and logout. Blue Screens of Death are also very common with this sort of problem. If the system is overheating this could be solved by upgrading your firmware on a few of the devices, like your motherboard or Graphics card. These tend to be the most likely devices to cause an overheat. Simply go to the manufactures site and download them and install. Hopefully your system will let you get that far to install them.
