My idea for a Counterpart to Generation 1 Optimus Prime "25th Anniversary" (G1 Reissue) would be a Megatron using Generation 2 Mold with G1 Colors.

I think this would be the most likely way if a "Counterpart" were to be released since G1 Megatron's Mold is deemed illegal in USA.

Q:What is your opinion of this idea?

    Thanks in advance.

    -TF2

(If you want to suggest an alternate mold like Heroes Megatron of G2 for example, That's fine with me.)

Here is the photo of the mold that I am considering using for this idea [Credit For The Pic: Seibertron.com]:

    I'd buy it.

Howsabout a two-pack of G2 Hero Prime and Megs in either the canceled repaint colors or even more G1esque schemes? :peoples:

I would love to see G2 Hero Prime & Megatron done in a more G1 type of color scheme. The only thing I would like to see them do to the Prime mold is put some kind of flip out rear foot support to make it easier to stand him in action poses.

Actually thinking about it, Hero Megs and Op 2 pack would be a great idea...

I find it almost funny that the G2 deluxe versions of Prime and Megs would be considered a good two pack, but the deluxe classics versions of them are near universally hated :lol

Not that I don't understand why that is, just that I find it funny.

Also, throw a G1ish paint job on him and I'd buy him in a flash

You know, I was thinking the same thing! I actually really like the Megs in that two pack, but Prime's gimmick kept me from really enjoying that figure.

Also, G2 Megs with a G1 style paintjob would freaking rule and I would also buy that in a heartbeat!

I'm definitely a fan of the big G2 Megatron mold, but I'm not sure it has aged well; it doesn't really hold up compared to modern toys. The absence of any meaningful articulation is the biggest negative for him, and while it was a huge, cool, imposing toy for its day, I don't see it selling well now.

Additionally, it doesn't have nostalgia helping to drive the sale. For most of the casual adult buyers (30+ folks who have been away from the franchise since they were kids), a green tank Megatron is meaningless.

A G2 Hero 2-pack would be a good bit of fun, though - and the molds were used as recently as RiD and Robotmasters. Who knows?

Retool the Hero molds to get rid of the air-pump launchers and I'd buy them.

While I don't think they were, I will say that RM Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron's Missile Launcher was much cooler and easier to use in my opinion.

Yeah it would be nice for them to retool the molds to get rid of the air-pump launchers, and like I mentioned if they did that they really need to add a flip-out heal piece for the prime mold to help with his stability.

Definitely would help them. Wasn't there an unproduced Hero Megatron repaint in grey? Do that, or jungle/desert camo (just leave the purple out) and it would rock.

I will say that Rebirth Megatron's/Reverse Convoy's Missile Launcher is much cooler then Hero Megatron's Air-Pump Missile Launcher since the first one is easier to use and more fun. :)
