Today out of the blue my geometry teacher started a lesson on synthesizing. He started talking about how timeswere tough in the early 80's. There was a toy company called Hasbro. They made toy cars and action figures that kids both like. Parents werent buying as many toys now and Hasbro synthesized...

that if they could combine those cars and action figures to serve both the interests, they would make more money. Thus came the Transformers. If an action figure was $10 and a car was $6 they could sell the Transformer for $13 to make it cheaper on the wallet. He said that Hasbro went further and made triple changers like Blitzwing (who he described as a cool purple one).

Even though he got it wrong, as the original concept of the Transformers toys wasn't Hasbro's idea...

Why let facts get in the way of an interesting message? :)

Yeah, he left out the part about Hasbro sending buyers to Japanese toy expos, being impressed with what they saw, and buying up the rights to distribute Japanese transforming toys in the USA... or the bit about Tonka totally scooping them on that, and releasing their Japanese transforming robots first. :)

Or the bit about Shogun Warriors bringing gattai and transforming super robots over to North America almost a decade earlier.

But yeah... it's an example, used to illustrate... uh... what does this have to do with Geometry again? :)

Well, look at like this, while some of the facts were incorrect, he got the student's attention, especially yours, Autobot Wall_E, and that's what counts! You absorbed it and have actually repeated something you learned (granted it was a TF subject, so you really listened),I imagine every teacher loves that!!:thumbs2:

Dang, I wish that I had a math teacher like yours who would mention TFs in the class.

If he can't even get the origin of the TF brand right, how can you trust him to teach geometry? Everything he's ever said to be true is now suspect!

I get it that his facts were off but for the sake of application he wanted an attention grabber.

Oh and I cant even begin to describe how awesome this teacher is. Cant even begin.

At the end of all this he threw in: "By the way, the 1986 movie is MUCH superior to the new one with Megan Fox.... yeah, I said it!" I laughed

NOW TF's are considered COOL FOR SCHOOL? Wish that happened around my time.
