http://www.zyleth.com/images/kitt/ Got my donor car for my knight Rider KITT replica. Never thought I would impulse buy a car, but this I could not pass up. First off, its a Firebird 82 SE, only 2k of those made. It had all the rare parts I needed such as the round shift knob, t-top, PMD seats, 15' turbo cast aluminum wheels and 4 bowling ball hubcaps (awesome condition). It has the origenal 305 engine with 125 k miles on it, but its in immaculant condition. Carfax even came up clean, passed smog yesterday as well with flying colors. Apparently it was gifted from this guys aunt who bought it back in 82. It was her baby, she really pampered it. When she passed, she gifted it to her nephew who really did not want it. His loss really, my gain. Sold it to me for 1800 USD. My bf and I are just going to hold onto it for now with the exception of snagging the crowl hood and the front fender air extractors till we get our own house (and garage ^^ )
Awsome! It's been a dream of mine to have a KITT and a General Lee ever since we saw them as kids. Be cool to drop a newer LS1 V-8 in that thing if you're gonna go all out.
Sweet My brother has the outside of his KITT replica done, but he got a new nose for it and will be turning it into KARR instead.
I loved KITT as a kid. Have you seen the websites of others who've customized their KITT's with onboard computer screens, "Cylon scanner"... the works?
That is Miss Knight to you. Seesh, just because someone work on cars dosen't mean that its always a guy. Darth Fitch: Yeah I have seen them. I post on KnightRiderOnline.com and have seen what others have done. Been meaning to put it up on the registeries (http://www.knightregistries.com) as welll as http://www.knightfoundation.net and knightreplicas.com. I really want to go full out on this and intergrate some of todays technology with it. My boyfirend and I are waiting for the hybred/alternative energy engines to get better, we want to do away with the 305 (they're not that reliable anyways). Of course were not going to have missles and insane things like that, but were going to place gps, maps/road programs, auto trunk lid- things like that.
I have always said that if I won the Lottery I would buy a turnkey KITT. Which season KITT are you doing? I was always partal to the 3rd season version myself.
At the moment, I am leaning towards a second season KITT. I am still undecited tho, I am just mainly getting the car in better working condition and detailing it. I checked the fluids today and I nearly passed out with how bad the break/coolant was...it was pretty putrid. The washer fluid was polluted as well and there was absolutly NO transmission fluid in it; when I was driving it home after buying it I was wondering why the transmission seems so reluctant to shift. The dip stick for the transmission also broke on me tonight, the metal on the handel was stressed and snapped off. Another trip to the pull yard tomorrow....

Pretty soon you will be able to take one of those small Mac computers, mount it in the car, and use voice interface to issue commands to the car.
That would be pretty cool. I know there are self driving programs out there that are being tested/developed by universities. One of the biggest ones that I have heard of is the Sebastian program ( a self driving small SUV run by like two or three laptops).
Don't know anything about this guy, but he's local here (for me) in FL - looks like he does a good bit of this kind of stuff. http://www.markscustomkits.com/
