One of my classmates I know fairly well recently got diagnosed with leukemia after being unwell for a couple of days, I am not sure how serious his condition is but no cancer is good. I knew this guy since primary school up until now (3rd form). It really is a shock when something like this happens to someone you know especially at just 13 years old. You just don't see it coming at all.
Dude, that sucks. Kids with cancer suck--they haven't had time to screw their lives up on their own, and that just doesn't seem fair. For what it's worth, medicine has come a long way in the last few decades with treating childhood leukemia. Survival rates are up somewhere around 80%, which isn't bad. You can help that also, by making a point to visit and help keep your friend's spirits high. That mind over matter stuff really can make a difference.
Thanks for the comment Squirrelcar it really means alot. Yeah cancer sucks especially at a young age, when the guy has not even had a chance to live his own life yet.
Man that breaks my heart.. Just, as he said. Keep your friend's spirits up. Visit him, do as much as you can for him. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and sending good vibes your way.
I'm doing some volunteer work with cancer patients and it really is heart-breaking to se them suffer. I will keep your friend in my prayers.
Be there for him, d00d. It does help, believe me. I'll keep your friend in my thoughts, and I hope he makes a full recovery.
I have a good friend going through the exact same thing. He has had several treatments of chemo and is possibly needing a Bone Morrow transplant. He is doing very well though. He has a lot of support and has kept a positive attitude towards his ability to beat it. That is the key. Your friend needs to believe and not give up or stop fighting. Best of luck to your friend. I hope for the best.
I'm sorry... I don't know much about leukemia, so I don't want to say anything insensitive, but my prayers are with him.
