So my first attempt at a kitbash/repaint. Sanded down the head for the more bucket shape of Ironhide, and well, added paint..

So, now my only question on this before I move on is, does anyone know how or where I could go to get gold, clear and silver foil sticker paper? I want to print up my own custom stickers for him, but I have no idea where I would go to look for them. Any help would certainly be appreciated!

PS..What works best to protect the paint and keep it from chipping, if you're dealing primarily with stores available like walmart etc?

I've heard tales that a product called Future Floor Wax does wonders for making customs shine as well as providing extra protection. Can anyone back me up on this? I'm not a customizer myself...Nice Ironhide, btw!

Does anyone have any ideas though about the stickering/details..Where can I buy the silver sticker foil paper, or gold etc? At a reasonable price..And I'd only need a few sheets, not like reams of hundreds etc..Anyone know?

    Well, there's always http://www.reprolabels.com/ :)

Uh...I like to make my own waterslide decals and use them on my Alternators. I put a full tutorial in the "Exhaustive Kitbashers' Archive" at the top of this forum.

Yeah, I', with Ops here. No reason to dog out a great repaint with archaic stickers. Most hobby shops, and some other b'n'm stores sell inkjet waterslide decal paper that will give you a much more finished look. It is more work, but if you were going to print your own stickers anyways it shouldn't be that much more.

IMO it really would be worth it too.

I believe the site is bare-metal.com. they sell the gold metal foil as well as silver and other colors. You can also get with or with out a adhesive side.

Very nice! Wish there was a bit more grey to break up the black (ala the cartoon model), but the repaint itself is very well done!

I'm basically just agreeing with others here and saying that what you've got there is a nice piece of work.

That sloped-down positioning for the chest and the basic appearance of the mold's normal head really does make it seem like the mold was originally intended to be Ironhide (I was even thinking the upcoming Scion recolor that we saw listed a short while ago was going to be Ironhide).

With the changes you've made it really and truly is Ironhide (even though some people might think the vehicle mode isn't the absolute most fitting one possible).

As for adding grey..I don't know, I mean I could, it'd be easy enough to switch out that black for grey, but I kinda liked it as is..I mean, none of the alternators are an exact color scheme, right, all minor variations into something more real/modern...but, it could still be done

I still want to smooth out his jaw there, where Skids has that jaw peice, Ironhide doesn't..I kinda want to thin it out to make it look like part of his neck, and maybe thin the sides of his helmet down too, like the original gen-1 is.
